Renovation - Memorial Gym (Scotty Robertson Court)

I drove my brother around campus this weekend to show him all the new construction. As we passed by Memorial Gym I asked if he ever received anything about donating to the Scotty Robertson Court project. He response was "no" but said he would be happy to cut a check to help fund this. My brother happens to be a very successful physician in Montana who, btw, worked in the SID office back in the 70's. It amazes me how we let things like this slip through the cracks. Do we not keep up with our alumni and the professions they're in or do we just expect people to come walk through the door and give money??

Pretty much. DR never solicits money and won't even make donor lists available to those raising money unless it's on a very restricted basis. He's afraid that his power will be diminished, and his prestige eclipsed, by those that are raising the money.

This should count towards LTAC so contacting Adam for clarification may be in order. I think no acknowledgement is an oversight and not normal practice.

My understanding and I post or tell such anytime anyone ask, is that any contributions related to Tech Athletics counts towards LTAC i.e. athletic endowments, projects, specific sports, etc.

This is from the LTAC Foundation webpage - note items 2 and 4 below specifically. You have been told otherwise regarding what? Special projects, endowment??
How Will My Donations Be Used?

The goal of LTAC is to provide Tech’s student-athletes with the support necessary to receive a first-class education and to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics. Monies donated to LTAC will be directed for:

1. Scholarships
   In addition to tuition and books, fully-funded scholarships provide quality on-campus housing and nutritional meals.
2. Facility Enhancements
   Facilities are instrumental in providing the support for Tech’s student-athletes to succeed in the classroom and in competition. Equally important, facilities are critical assets in recruiting quality talent.
3. Coaches’ Salary Supplements
   Salary supplements make it possible for Tech to attract quality coaches by matching market value.
4. Special Earmarks
   Anyone wishing to donate to a specific sport may do so and still receive credit toward an LTAC membership.

Unless it is a LTAC donation earmarked for something, it is not a LTAC donation. Thus, if you did not specify the donation as "LTAC for Robertson Court" you got no credit.

I didn't get anything in the mail regarding this project, but I knew about it from latechsports.com. I think the donation request went to just BB season ticket holders.

I gave a couple hundred and received two thank you notes from Bruce/White.

Exactly my point. We've got alum out there doing well for themselves and yet we make no attempt at trying to solicit donations whether they're BB season ticket holders or not. My brother went to med school at Tulane and he gets a phone call or a letter and sometimes both from them every month wanting money! Our fundraising efforts are piss poor that's all I can say.
