    Tech EMBA in Shreveport

I wanted to pass this along to everyone on here. If you have been looking to get your MBA, but cannot manage the traditional school schedule, Tech is offering an EMBA in Shreveport starting in January 2011. I am in the first class group that started in Jan 2009, and we are one semester from graduation.

If you have any questions about it, feel free to send me a message. I am attaching the letter below.

    Keith

At a time when many Louisiana business schools are shrinking their programs, Louisiana Tech's Executive MBA program is expanding and growing.

Louisiana Tech University's College of Business started its Executive MBA program at the Technology Transfer Center in Shreveport in January 2009. The inaugural class of students will complete their last of four terms this fall and will graduate in November 2010.

With the success of the EMBA-Shreveport program, a second cohort of students will begin classes in January 2011. Applications are currently being accepted.

The EMBA was expanded to Monroe in January 2010. This class of 23 students will complete their program in December 2011, at which time a second cohort of students is expected to be enrolled in Monroe.

I ask that you share this information with those who you believe could benefit from our Executive MBA program. Information on our EMBA programs can be found at http://www.business.latech.edu/emba/ or you may contact Dr. Sean Dwyer, EMBA Director (email: dwyer@latech.edu or phone: 318-257-3584).

Louisiana Tech's Executive MBA program differs from its campus-based MBA program in several key ways. First, enrollment is limited to those who have significant managerial and business experience. As such, student interaction during classes is a large part of the learning experience, allowing the executives to share their insights and experience with their classmates.

Secondly, classes are held on alternating weekends on Friday evenings and Saturdays. The program takes less than two years to complete, with breaks in December and the summer months of July and August. Finally, the EMBA curriculum places greater emphasis on leadership skills, strategic thinking, and management decision-making. Simply put, it is designed to make our students more effective managers.

If you or someone you know would like to know more about our Executive MBA program, please contact us at your soonest convenience.

    Sincerely,

    Dr. James R. Lumpkin, Dean

I got that email too. I think it is awesome. I am about to start a PMBA program at Tulane. This is great news for Tech and it needs to be successfull in both Shreveport and Monroe.

So much overdue that my employer and I gave SMU $80k between 2006 and 2008. Oh well, at least I'm done with it. No one can take that diploma and edumacation away!

Would be nice if Tech could pattern the program after SMU's EMBA program though ... great program for such a snooty school. If the dean of the individual college or department head wasn't teaching the class, it was management (CFO, VP, etc) from significant corporations. Good international trips (Cuba ... which was canceled at the last minute unfortunately and ended up in Mexico instead ... and China), good curriculum, great faculty, and a great network of DFW-based professionals.

    Too bad I HATE SMU!
