I think it would make a big difference if this was advertised as an option for LTAC a little more heavily. I think more people would give if it was explained/advertised a little better. JMO though.
I think Adam does a fine job. I just think not many people know of the option.
If everyone donated $25 who are members of this board. We would put 25000 in the fund easy.

Reminder -
Still time to get a donation in for the endowment before the end of June. Good idea to get donations in before June 30 if you want the money to start paying out at the earliest possible date. Tech benefits whenever the money is deposited however. Endowment donations count towards LTAC membership.
This year's payout is calculated based on the principal on hand June 30, 2010 with the payout available to Athletics in July 2011.
The money in an endowment must be on hand at least 12 months before a payout is made so whatever the balance is at the end of a fiscal year (June 30) will be the basis for the payout for the fiscal year 12 months later (July 1). The percentage payout varies from year to year based on market conditions.
Make donations to La Tech University Foundation - Athletics Enhancement Endowment.

Not that I'm aware of.
Tech does not actively promote this fund and other projects that are not their primary focus i.e. ATAC fund that Karl started. I guess they feel that it potentially takes away from LTAC, QE project, etc.
It has been pointed out aptly by others on this thread that it makes sense for the longterm health of the athletic program to build the endowment, as well as generate funds for the annual operating needs and projects.
I hope our next president doesn't have the aversion to capital campaigns and endowments as the incumbent.
I wouldn't mind their not promoting these funds if they would enact a policy that puts a percentage of all undesignated gifts into an endowment (or perhaps spreads it among all endowments). 5-10% would not cripple the annual fund, and over time would really help our endowments grow.
And for those who are interested, there are similar endowments on the academic side. In particular, I know of one that goes to "the area of greatest need as determined by the president," which typically is the general fund, and another that pays into the general scholarship fund.

In January, I plan to donat $25 a month for a full year strictly to the Endowment. It will give me my C parking pass through LTAC and put some money back into the Endowment.
