Went to Teriyaki Grill tonight with my wife and mother-in-law. It was good food -- the dining area was not what we were expecting though. I assumed that it was a sit down restaurant but it was very casual and drinks are self serve. It actually operates similarly to Dowling's Smokehouse BBQ in the way you order and all. To top it off, Karl was cooking when we got there but came out to our table, pulled up a chair, and sat there and talked to us for about 30 minutes about everything from our businesses, to La Tech and Cedar Creek Football, to professional sports, and hunting and fishing. I told my wife and MIL on the way out that there are not many NBA Hall of Famer's that will pull up a chair and "shoot the breeze" with your average customer. Karl is a class act and we are fortunate to have him as an ambassador for LA Tech and as a businessman who chooses to live here and invest in Ruston.

So Karl owns Teriyaki Grill?
Nah, he just needed a part time job..![]()
A worker at teriyaki grill said that something very nice is coming next door to them. I asked is it retail or a restaurant. She stated it's a surprise/they want give them a lead on what it is..Does anyone have an idea?
I need to try the new restaurant. My wife said it was pretty tasty.
My son and I went to Teriyaki last week and the ice machine malfunctioned. A worker got Karl to unclog it and when it was running again, Karl came and got my son's cup, asked him what he wanted, went and filled it up, joking all the time about having to wait on him. My son got a big kick out of it considering he kept a life-sized poster of Karl on his bedroom wall throughout his childhood.
Karl could teach a lot of fast food restaurants a thing or two about customer service.
Black Box is supposed to be opening tomorrow, the 19th.

Customer Service........Hmmmm......I have been wondering about that the past two weekends.....came to Ruston to work on my son's ride trying to get it running. Fuel pump ....had to order it last Saturday (went to the CA vs Tech game) and put it in this Saturday night in the parking lot @ Graham Hall while Tech was playing Houston. Both Saturday nights we have been able to go into Applebee's after the games were over with almost no crowd when every other restaurant was packed. One thing I could tell you is service was extremely slow the night of the CA game...If I hadn't wanted to spend some quality time with my son I would have walked out. We got our table pretty quick but it took almost an hour to get waited on and get food...I went back the second time just because they weren't crowded. Service was a little faster but still not great......Have any of you experienced this??????
Exactly.....if anybody along that service road gets taken out my the bad economy...I think they are the A #1 first in line to go down. I don't think they could keep that place afloat even in a good economy with that kind of service......They only got me a second round because most everything we drove by had a long line out front and I knew I was in for a long wait no matter what. We ordered drinks with chips and salsa for an appetizer and they managed to get that out in a timely manner. The food, getting the ticket, and then getting the ticket paid took way to long......
My wife and daughter love Applebee's, so we go pretty regularly. We've never had a service problem, but they are never busy. To me, the worst service is the Dawghouse, but that's never stopped me from eating there. The food is just too good.
