What these kids will remember is that special moment they were there for and witnessed (for me CSU and Maryland in 1990). More so, their spirit make us much more likely to win. As part of the experience and contributing to the success they become lifetime donors. That will be a lot of money. Honestly, I'm disappointed I have to write this. It should be a no brainer to bring the most supportive Tech student group to the bowl game.

That goal post was crowded. Sure hope you were not that guy that broke its fall with your nose. Great times!!!!

We as alumni should not allow Tech to do this bowl half-assed. There is too much riding on this bowl appearance. We need to be great. If DR & BVD cannot handle this then they need to step aside and let others do so. We cannot afford to go to San Diego & look like a joke.

How do they plan to pull off all the scheduled band performances in San Diego with only 1/3 of the band?!?! From reading the bowl site the bands are an integral part of this whole thing.

Exactly. Tech is on the big time stage in this bowl game. This may be our transitional moment. Want a Big East or Conference USA invite, prove it. This decision sets us back. Its not just that. Its that the decision was made without trying to make it happen. I should have gotten an email today asking for money to send the band. Why did that not happen? We do something great and then this. Takes the wind out of the sail.

Thats a good idea...it could become a tradition, and give the younger band members something to shoot for as our team goes bowling ...AGAIN AND AGAIN...which we will. After all, according to Bruce, we're in a RENAISSANCE.

The band adds to the pageantry of the game day experience. It's part of college football. Stop being cheap Reneau! I'm tired of the bush league-ness.

I diagree! We will be short of fan support so we need to throw the kitchen sink @ San Diego. Remember that the spirit groups are also future alumni & finjancial supporters. Perception is reallity & because we could use alot of reality right now (conference realignment & all) we need to send everyone we can. It just takes the admin to get a plan of what we can & cannot do & then let the fans, alumni & booster know what they need.

If no to both, I have no problem sending 50.
I know that in 2001 when we went to Boise the whole band flew (my sister was one of them) and I know that in 2008 Northern Illinois sent their entire band to the Indy Bowl

That said, either send the whole band or no band.
I apologize for the incorrect amount, I had just been notified and that number was completely heresay

I'm all aboard with this.....my money for tickets will certainly go towards the BOP, if there is any left I'll purchase tickets but this ain't right.....send the college students....the admin can buy their own way like us.

Do we know for sure this is true? Anyone see any official word from the Administration or Robken?

Re: Tech Administration decides to send only 1/3 of the BOP to the Poinsettia Bowl

How much would it cost to bus 100 people from Ruston to San Diego? Would they also need a room and food? If they money can be raised, would they be able to play with the rest of the BOP?

I was able to get to Reno because of the generosity of other people. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Google maps says it's a 26 hour drive. Even if we can't get 100 there, we can add to the 50. If this gets organized, I'm in.
