There are a lot of whimpy sounding fans on here. We want a bcs bowl game year and we are scared to play a bcs-aq team that would not be a bcs bowl game team? And, don't say it isn't about being scared. Read the posts. No, it isn't a sure win, but if you want to play with the big boys, you can't shy away from them during the regular season either. I want to make sure we can compete if we were to get to a bcs bowl. Winning our aq games is important.
As wimpy as it sounds, Dawg06 has a great point. We didn't really NEED the ATM game. I'm don't feel too strongly either way. I'll be there if I'm not working.

I live 300 miles away, so, this would be easily remembered for the effort I had to make this game. I also had to use up 2 days of vacation in order to attend this game( Thurs and Fri.). SO, I remember this game vividly.

If we take this game, Sonny D needs to demand groundbreaking immediately on Q4E! He should have some leverage in this situation and get some of the things he needs also!
Yes! YES! YES! Why oh why this hate for this game-if it indeed is scheduled? Move this to Ruston?????FOr what reason. Like many of the people who have already posted this could be a 45-50k attended game on national tv with another chance to capture more of the Shreve/Bossier market that we DESPERATELY need. Trying to pressure A/M into playing in Ruston (how big of a homer are you if you really think TECH is in a position to do such a thing?) is out of the question. If this game comes to fruition then it is a fantastic opportunity for TECH. I'm sorry if it upsets some of you that were really looking forward to Lamar in Ruston. IF you don't like the idea then circle your wagons in The Joe parking lot and wait for a SBC invite.

Also with A&M moving into the SEC, it will put a bigger spot light on this game...
This is a chance for us to grab the attention of the "wannabes" and "Bayou Billys" that are SO rampant in NWLA and wake them up if we beat SEC member A&M in Shreveport in front of 45K plus...
This would do more for our image than any win in Ruston vs Miss St etal could do for us -
I don't necessarily like moving a game away from Ruston - but this is one I can actually live with...

All I know is the Lamar game was Sept 1st and the port city classic will be played in independence on that day, so I guess that is why everyone is speculating about Thu night.
Informed speculation -
That date is being shopped to ESPN and FoxSports for the matchup....
My guess would be ESPN2 with a 6:00 pm kick

Thursday prior to Labor Day......hmmmmmmm.
SCarolina has claimed that spot on the SEC network the last few seasons. Maybe SEC wants to showcase aTm early . . . . against a non-AQ.
TV loves Tech in stand-alone games like this. The exposure would be fabulous.
Two thoughts:
(1) I'd rather see a hillside-full in The Joe.
(2) on a Sunday night before Labor Day.
