Yes there is, which is why I asked when it came to be.
http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=4819597The champion of Conference USA, the Mid-American Conference, the Mountain West Conference, the Sun Belt Conference, or the Western Athletic Conference will earn an automatic berth in a BCS bowl game if either:
- A. Such team is ranked in the top 12 of the final BCS Standings, or,
- B. Such team is ranked in the top 16 of the final BCS Standings and its ranking in the final BCS Standings is higher than that of a champion of a conference that has an annual automatic berth in one of the BCS bowls.
Yeah!! Don't play with Semites! Wait that's not right.
HD, I am a member of the board of the NWLATAG that is working very hard to promote TECH and its athletic program here in Shreveport and Bossier. We are a grassroots effort group that understands that the best way TECH can grow our athletic program and its overall enrollment is to expand our footprint in the closest, most logical and necesary place that it can. We took time out of our day today to host the most successful and enjoyable baseball banquet TECH has ever had in our region.
We are also hosting the TECH Band Of Pride and The Regal Blues during this weekends Mardi Gras parade (by hosting I mean inviting them, getting the university to help and approve the deal, feeding them, and transportation) in order to better expose our school to the North Louisiana market we need so very dearly to advance in our endeavors. We are also responsible for the TAG TECH and Tails which has over 1,000 people attend every event. We have hosted many game watching parties here in town and are also responsible for placing over 300 TECH license plates on vehicles in the Shreve/Bossier area for no charge which I see more of every day in our area. This doesn't even take into account the amount of planning, our own monetary resources, and the very large amount of time that we dedicate to promoting our school in this region. We have more media coverage than we have ever had here in Shreveport/Bossier thanks to our efforts and there is a fantastic surge of enthusiasm here for the upcoming TX/Am TECH Game.
You, on the other hand, are a five foot nothing tick-turd who donates some money to the school and then proceeds to tear it down daily on this site. You berate the team, its coaching, its players, the administration and the very town/market that we have worked so very hard for and have sacrificed so very much of our time and money to garner the market share and respect of. I hope that you decide to keep your sorry butt in McKinney and don't show here in Shreveport for this historic event. You get on this site and pretend like its one of your Dungeon and Dragons things you and your goober buddies played in high school but a lot of us on here take this thing very seriously. You push buttons just to push them and it is not appreciated by a very many of us. this includes the NWLATAG guys and gals, the founders and moderators of this forum, former players and their families and pretty much anybody else that loves our TECH.
I truly, dearly, wishfully hope to meet you someday. You will not forget it.

You're missing the point--they LOST!! Houston also made a run (with a far more difficult schedule than ours, sans A&M, and, guess what--they LOST!! Why are you guys banking on us going undefeated w/o playing A&M? We will most likely lose too... Hosting A&M in Shreveport is more of an opportunity than hoping we "might" finish undefeated by not playing them. That's ridiculous!
Lol. I am not missing the point. I was making a point. The point is that Ball State with no hype was in a position to qualify for the BCS with a 12-0 record with an extremely weak schedule. That example was brought up to counter the radio talking heads and others on this board that said we would not sniff a BCS bowl by going undefeated with our previous schedule. Yes, Ball State lost, but that does not invalidate the point.
Yes, Ball State lost in the MAC Championship Game. Yes, Houston lost in the C-USA Championship Game. Newsflash: The WAC does not have a championship game. That means we have one less stumbling block.
Houston's schedule was not far more difficult than our's. UH's schedule was very weak. IIRC their schedule ranked in the bottom 10 entering the C-USA Championship game, but they were ranked #6 by the BCS.
Nobody is banking on going undefeated. Nobody said we would go undefeated without A&M on the schedule. I said it was unlikely for us to go undefeated. We only said that we had a legitimate chance to run the table for the first time since moving up to the FBS. That's it.
Yes, playing A&M is a great opportunity, and it would be great if we upset them. However, the dividend of running the table would be far greater than the dividend for defeating TAMU. You have to look at risk vs. reward.
What is the "potential reward?" Be careful...![]()
