I thought your argument was fortified by statistical probabilities? If it is more likely that we beat A&M than go undefeated, you are contradicting yourself...

Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall

Statistical probabilities can give you a decent forecast, but they cannot take into account the human factor and intangibles. Sure, we may be more likely to beat Lamar, but we could also be more likely to not be as focused on them and start looking ahead. Hell, UCA almost beat us last year at our own house, and Hawaii was ugly. Every great team puts up a stinker or two, and every team has the chance of upsetting another, so I just don't buy the whole "we were guaranteed to go 12-0 and go to the BCS" argument. Nothing is guaranteed in sports.

The bigger argument against this game was the location. I don't know that I'd say the gameday experience is terrible (thought our I-bowl was pretty decent a few years ago), but yes, it's not what we like or what we're used to. However, if this is truly a home game for us, I think that Tech will pull through on it. I can understand being upset that it's not at the Joe (I know I am/was), but it's still only an hour away, and it's still technically in our backyard. Just do your part to pack it and make it a home field advantage.

Dallas Morning News notes that the game is not a gimmie and calls it a neutral site:http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews....tral-site.html

Sorry if this is a re-post, I'm not closely following this thread.

Yes, Ball State lost, but that does not invalidate the point.

Yes, Ball State lost in the MAC Championship Game. Yes, Houston lost in the C-USA Championship Game. Newsflash: The WAC does not have a championship game. That means we have one less stumbling block.

Houston's schedule was not far more difficult than our's. UH's schedule was very weak. IIRC their schedule ranked in the bottom 10 entering the C-USA Championship game, but they were ranked #6 by the BCS.

Nobody is banking on going undefeated. Nobody said we would go undefeated without A&M on the schedule. I said it was unlikely for us to go undefeated. We only said that we had a legitimate chance to run the table for the first time since moving up to the FBS. That's it.

Yes, playing A&M is a great opportunity, and it would be great if we upset them. However, the dividend of running the table would be far greater than the dividend for defeating TAMU. You have to look at risk vs. reward.
we are going to beat tx am eric so thats all that matters. And marketdawg you almost made me crap my pants..Lets all play nice...Because I sure as hell dont want to get ugly with some of these people. I still got a little New Orleans Yat in me and believe me if i went off there was a good chance i would be banned for life from the board. We are all pulling for the same team I think...But what do I know...Im just an ass-hat.

We are a grassroots effort group that understands that the best way TECH can grow our athletic program and its overall enrollment is to expand our footprint in the closest, most logical and necesary place that it can. We took time out of our day today to host the most successful and enjoyable baseball banquet TECH has ever had in our region.

We are also hosting the TECH Band Of Pride and The Regal Blues during this weekends Mardi Gras parade (by hosting I mean inviting them, getting the university to help and approve the deal, feeding them, and transportation) in order to better expose our school to the North Louisiana market we need so very dearly to advance in our endeavors. We are also responsible for the TAG TECH and Tails which has over 1,000 people attend every event. We have hosted many game watching parties here in town and are also responsible for placing over 300 TECH license plates on vehicles in the Shreve/Bossier area for no charge which I see more of every day in our area. This doesn't even take into account the amount of planning, our own monetary resources, and the very large amount of time that we dedicate to promoting our school in this region. We have more media coverage than we have ever had here in Shreveport/Bossier thanks to our efforts and there is a fantastic surge of enthusiasm here for the upcoming TX/Am TECH Game.

You, on the other hand, are a five foot nothing tick-turd who donates some money to the school and then proceeds to tear it down daily on this site. You berate the team, its coaching, its players, the administration and the very town/market that we have worked so very hard for and have sacrificed so very much of our time and money to garner the market share and respect of. I hope that you decide to keep your sorry butt in McKinney and don't show here in Shreveport for this historic event. You get on this site and pretend like its one of your Dungeon and Dragons things you and your goober buddies played in high school but a lot of us on here take this thing very seriously. You push buttons just to push them and it is not appreciated by a very many of us. this includes the NWLATAG guys and gals, the founders and moderators of this forum, former players and their families and pretty much anybody else that loves our TECH.

I truly, dearly, wishfully hope to meet you someday. You will not forget it.
Market, I and many others appreciate what TAG does for our university, which brings me to my question. When is the most successful, fun, event scheduled for this spring? By this I mean Tech and Tails!!!!

Since the BCS has been around, I don't believe that there has ever been a team who has gone undefeated who has not been invited to a BC$ bowl. I'm not 100% sure about this stat but I feel pretty good about it. There have been arguments and instances where undefeated teams have not played in the NC game, but they at least went to a BC$ bowl and got a big paycheck. Strength of Schedule was never a factor as long as team was undefeated. That would make one believe that if Tech went undefeated in 2012 that we would be in a BC$ game. Does playing A&M over Lamar give increase or decrease our chances of running the table?

Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall

I haven't been on in a couple of days, so I jumped to the end of this thread, so I might be repeating something already mentioned, if so, I apologize. I don't really have an argument for those that are only against this game being in Shreveport other than that I feel that if we want to get Shreveport behind us, it's going to take playing a game there every year for quite some time. You can't expect that they'll just jump onboard when you play there once every 2-4 years.

Now, for the main point of my post. Those that are complaining about us not playing money games. In MY opinion, a money game is a game that a school schedules to get a big pay check and has 0-10% chance of winning at best. Since when did A&M, Illinois and Virginia become money games? These are the games we must win. People keep talking about Boise's scheduling to get to the top. Well, yeah they scheduled weak teams, but most are forgetting that they also scheduled the PAC 10 equivalent of Illinois, Virgina, Kentucky, MsState, etc... and not always at Boise. And this Tech team is much better than those early Boise teams that started their winning.

Illinois and Virginia are technically "money" games by textbook definition. I prefer to use the terminology "body bag" game for the 0-10% you described. I.E. a road game against OU would be a "body bag" game... and I am happy we did not go that route.
