Here's food for thought...

Our morals are the basis of our laws that guide and constrain human beings. Said morals are rooted in the belief that there is a God, who compels us to follow his Commandments, ya know such as Thou Shalt not Kill. If we are to adopt the notion that there is no God, there are no such commandments and all bets are off.

Now, the silly atheists will counter with, but we don't need commandments from God to "not kill." Human Beings could/should do the right thing anyway. WRONG! Can't have it both ways. Nope, sorry. Ya see, if you believe as the atheists do, you think Homo sapiens evolved from Homo xxxx, i.e. Cro-Magnons, Neanderthals, Homo erectus, etc.... all the way back to apes! Cro-Magnons, the most recent pre-modern man, killed indiscrimately. Killed for convenience, and just because someone else had something they wanted. There were NO morals!

Morals are NOT something naturally ingrained in human beings. It has been introduced and taught. Now, atheists want the best of both worlds. They want to live in a world of moral, constrained humans, but not acknowledge the very source of it.

Morals are not solely rooted in the belief of and can be derived from more than God. IMO, arguing that morals are derived only from God adds credit to the stance that religion (and everything associated) is made up by man to control the people.

Atheists don't argue morals are naturally ingrained. They are learned. Some base their morals on what primative humans thought and recorded in a work of fiction. Intelligent people realize that morals are only useful because they serve an end, and therefore adopt said morals to achieve that end.

It's the faux meaning of "separation of church and state" that is incorrectly applied on a daily basis. Especially by those to the left of center politically.

The Consitituion requires the 100% separation of government from anything controlled by the church or church business. No such separation of religion from anything having to do with government is included in the Constitution.

I think that is wrong too. The Constitution doesn't prohibit government from doing business with any religion, otherwise you are very much applying the same incorrect meaning. The only thing the Constitution prevents the federal government from doing is establishing a [state] religion, à la Anglicanism, and it prevents the federal government from prohibiting the worshiping of their chosen religion. Any interpretation beyond this I believe is wrong.

The merits of how much freedom a person actually gets to worship though can be debated because, at times, it can conflict with society (see Warren Jeffs, David Koresh, Jim Jones).

I just now saw this thread, so I'm late, but persecution is part of being Christian. Paul was persecuted often, and he praised God for it. Through our persecution, we glorify God.
