The people in Shreveport-Bossier City didn't care too much when the city's Arena Football team moved to New Orleans and the league champion Mudbugs hockey team shut down operations last year. Why would they care that much about the state of LSU-S athletics when so many bandwagoners are still tied to LSU's caboose?

The team had enough support by CHL standards. Attendance was better here than half of the league despite constantly having The CTC bump weekend games to week nights so they could book a concert or auto show. CHL operating costs are too high. Many CHL teams are moving to other leagues. The Mudbugs would probably exist in the SPHL had the owner not signed a no compete clause in his deal with the CHL.
I was in Bossier this weekend at my in-laws and happen to catch the parade on one of the local stations. It was all real cute, etc. with the floats all being about 'bad boys' or some such nonsense, HOWEVER, the one that really ticked me off was there was a LSU float with all the folks wearing Tiger gear (I didn't mind the Saints one so much - even though I am a Texans season ticket holder - that one I understood).
The kicker was that was the float sponsored by the TV station showing the parade and all of their on air personalities were riding it with LSU crap on throwing LSU footballs!!! WTF! You would have thought we were watching the BR station! If this 'merger' does anything at all in helping correct that problem, then by all means it is a good thing!!! Or maybe the BB&B can sponsor a TECH float next year??????

06,
I apologize for starting this mess as that was not my intent. I was just curious as to what was going to be the disposition of LSUS’ athletics. It appears that I hit a soar spot for many on this board and many who are not well informed or have not bothered to open up the PDF file and read JUST the title of the report. I have read the report in it’s entirety and many of your questions would be answered if you just read the damn thing and take it for what it’s worth.
Hell half of you start a thread and not bothering to read the fact that another thread was started several days prior covering the same topic or will jump into the middle of a thread without reading other posts or worse, high jack the damn thing. Most of which are knee jerk in nature and purily emotional. The narrow sighted can’t see the forest for the trees and don’t want to realize that this is awesome for TECH. Unfortunately 06, you have taken the brunt of the abuse by just responding to my post…folks he is just the messenger! I for one am totally onboard with the future of an LSUS/TECH meger under one umbrella called Louisiana Tech University if it were to come to fruition…who gives a shit where you attended classes?
Yeah you can get into the nuances as to whether you attended the Ruston Campus or Shreveport Campus or Barksdale Campus or whatever Campus. Again, who cares if my diploma says “Louisiana Tech University?” Many here will bitch about playing TAMU or any AQ teams in Shreveport (hell there’s an entire thread on that alone) but at the sametime criticize or deride CUSA (or the Aliance…whatever you want to call it) for not selecting TECH over other “metro” schools but you will be the first that claims Shreveport-Bossier City is your largest fan/alumni base…prove it! Shreveport/Bossier City has been the most lethargic sports town that I have ever seen…Shreveport Braves, Captains, Steamer, Pirates, Mudbugs, et al. It’s time that the TECH brand finally make an impact in the SBC market and if you can’t see that then you have drank way too much of the Ruston tainted red-clay kool-aid!
You can red dot me, green dot me, purple dot me, pink dot me or whatever color you want to dot me. I don’t care except the fact that my alma mater is Louisiana Tech University and no where on my diploma does it say Ruston, LA.
Go Dawgs!
The Ruston tainted red clay Kool-Aid tastes great!! I happen to love the Ruston campus and will oppose anyone, any group, or any proposal that I believe endangers the future of that campus!!! Sorry if that seems anti progress to you and yours. Please do pass me another round!!

TXDAWG81 don't get me wrong on this one. I love Ruston as well and what it offers to its students is phenominal. Believe me, I spent many a night studing for exams at Stows and Fargos to include driving to Funroe on occassion...yeah right about the studing part! And my time there was the best 4 years of my life...ok ok 5 years of my life as I was on the extended program...1980 and 81 was a bad time for me...so was 79, 78, ok 77 was bad as well. But you get my point! LA TECH UNIVERSITY has to universally embrace what Shreveport/Bossier City and Barksdale has to offer to move the TECH name forward. We as an intitution don't need anymore road blocks than what we have had to endure over the past 20 years.
My 15 year old daughter hopefully will be there in 3-years and I can't ask for a better experience for her if she decides to go there. Ruston will always be the home of TECH even with the inclusion of LSUS and anyone wanting anything outside of that is dead wrong and all bets should be off!
If this were to happen, I personally feel that it is a win-win for TECH and the folks in NW Louisiana will benefit from this. But not at the expense of moving the MAIN campus to Shreveport. I for one will be totally opposed to that! Ruston is and always will be the home of TECH.
The next time I'm there, I will look you up and have some of that red clay tainted Kool-Aid...is it still 3.2?
Go Dawgs

Looking at Penn State, they have different campuses but all share the same mascot

Example:
Penn State - Berk

Penn State - Hazleton

If this happens, I envision LSUS just becoming "Tech." No other designation necessary. The Forestry/Ag campus is down Hwy 80 a mile or so (Reese Hall). The original Bio-Medical Engineering building was south on Hwy 167. So what if part of Tech is 70 miles away down I-20. It'll still just be "Tech."
NSU has a campus in Leesville. It is just "NSU." A physical extention of the university. The faculty there report to deans who are located on the main Natchitoches campus.
This is not exactly some new concept, ya know.

I just thought about something, since the 4K+ students at LSUS would now be Tech students, they would be eligible to get in Tech home games for free. If only 25% take advantage of that it is a 1K boost in attendance even if they don't bring anyone with them. Actual numbers may not play out that way but is nice to speculate.
