National Sticky Bun Day

Pennsylvania does it again! German settlers created "schnecken," the original sticky bun, and to this day they are considered a Philadelphian specialty. You don't have to go to Philly to get one of these sweet treats, but it couldn't hurt! Unless you eat too much scrapple or cheese steaks first.

Mardi Gras

Celebrated annually in New Orleans with parades, floats, and costumes (not to mention drinking and debauchery) the origin of Mardi Gras dates back centuries. The party started off small, with 16 men pushing a bull's head through town on Fat Tuesday, but like so many parties that start off with a bull's head, it just kind of developed a life of its own. And over the years it's turned into a city-wide celebration and tourist destination.
