Good old Memorial Gym
This may sound a little throwed off, but after reading 06's finds above...
If I were in charge, instead of establishing a breeder/bloodline, or hunting down a perfectly pedigreed specimen to replace the former every time, I swear I'd find a shelter dawg. Quick look at the Internets: http://www.dfwbulldogrescue.org/ They're out there.
Played properly, it'd be potentially wonderful PR. And it keys well into the original, throwed away bulldog who probably wasn't perfect fawn and white, and didn't have any papers. But it was fiercely loyal, and just happy to be here for a little while.

10 dogs in 21 years, we were kinda rough on our mascots in the early days!

Dawg06, I sincerely applaud your efforts! It is great to read a little history about our beloved mascots.
I have loved reading these articles. Thank you Dawg06!
My pleasure. I'm sure The Tech Talk archives and the old Lagniappes have a lot more info about our mascots, but I don't have access to them. I think The Tech Talk archives are on the third floor of the library, but I don't know about the old Lagniappes. If someone on campus could dig up some info to fill in the gaps, that would be great!
Since we are the school that is supposed to bring tradition to C-USA next year, I think it would be nice if we had our mascot history on our website and in our media guides like Yale does with Handsome Dan and Georgia does with Uga. It's past time we should start treating our mascot like royalty.

I remember seeing a bunch of old Lagniappes in the Bogard conference room. I may take a peek when I get back to Ruston.
An Affray - now there's a word rarely seen today.
