Gotta fight that knee-jerk rxn. I'm mad bulldog football won't be happening until next week, but this could be a good thing for Tech. Houston is an easier first game...Florida...well, good luck TAMU.
As I said in another post, this decision was made based on information gathered by Barksdale Air Force Base and shared with Tech officials indicating the most likely course for the storm is for it to track up I-49 toward Shreveport. That may not happen, but it was the best information available.
So yes, had the game been at the Joe the decision would have been the same.
Disappointed, sure, and it is a mixed bag with the delay. But I cannot fault anybody for canceling because of hurricane safety concerns. No good reason to chance it. Not just rain and wind, but flooding, washed out bridges, downed power lines, falling trees, etc.
The track will probably shift over to Dallas then back to Monroe. These prediction models are basically useless, Issac was headed toward Tampa last Friday, then the panhandle, then Mobile, then Biloxi. What's the point in a model if the track is +/- 700 miles. There is just too much variability to predict a track. But still probably a good decision better safe than sorry.
In a way I am glad the game was moved. Now we play on a Saturday and that should be a packed stadium. It will make it easier for a lot of us far away to be able to get to the game. Overall, I think a good decision by the admin.
There goes our by week. That ain't good.
