    Re: Game postponed.....

I'm bummed about this cancellation, because I had vacation planned around it. However, now it'll be on a cool, crisp Fall Saturday evening, AAAAAND my friends and my wife will now be able to attend, so I s'pose it'll work out for the better. We could *possibly* be undefeated at the time. Wouldn't that be awesome? Aw well, I'll be in Houston for the opener. Let's focus now on revenge!

And if we don't declare it - then we are INELIGIBLE for public assistance from GOHSEP and FEMA...

FWIW - it cost the PARISH over $100,000 for the clean-up of the June storms for just what we did inside the Town of Homer and all of that came out of the parish's pocket

I don't see it being nearly as bad as that storm in June. In that one I thought the tree across the street from my house was gonna tip over and hit the church there. Really glad it didn't. Still I guess regulations are regulations.

When a man is wrong, he is wrong and I was certainly wrong on this one and the parking passes. I'll refrain from posting what I have reason to believe will happen in such circumstances as obviously, the so called sources I have been getting information from are not so connected. Still, I will be there Oct 13. Saying I'm disappointed we will not be playing on the 30th just really does not do justice to my feelings. That said - Time to move on! Let's whip dem Cougars!

It will be a different type of bad -

The June storm was small - 28 sq mile area debris path with straight line winds topping at 70+ miles per hour

We will be on the right side of the storm, it will cover the entire parish and should have sustained winds of 45+ for 3 hours or more in addition to 5 to 8 inches of rain in less than a 24 hour period

But it all boils down to the fact, that the Parish cannot declare an emergency after the fact and be eligbile for FEMA monies

Seeing how the path of this thing is projected to sit squarely on S-port all day tomorrow -no doubt a miserable day tomorrow. Postponement was the right call though it sux for those who were planning to attend and will not be able on oct 13. I'm glad Houston game is televised!

    Re: Game postponed.....

In my opinion, postponing the game was the right decision even if Shreveport doesn't get a drop of rain. It just doesn't seem right to say "let's go out and play ball" while the southern part of our state could be going through a natural disaster (some levees are already overtopped and over 500,000 people are without power). Some of those being affected in South Louisiana are friends, family, and coworkers of people that live in North Louisiana and they have a lot on their mind now without a football game thrown into the mix. Shreveport is on the evacuation route and would play a huge role in housing evacuees (some are already here). A football game during this time would further strain police, traffic, hotel space, and a lot of other things.

It wouldn't look good for Shreveport, Texas A&M, and Tech for a national news story to read "who had the bright idea to play a football game while New Orleans is flooding and people are dying".

I'm ashamed for not believing the University had done its due diligence with regard to this situation, which they obviously did. I was listening to Bayou Sportsline and BTB last night, and piling-on with the commentators (in the privacy of my car ) "yeah that's right...we look like buffoons!"

Well...as predicted by the United States Air Force, Isaac appears set to wreak havoc on the entire northern part of the state. I just want to say to any University folks reading this...that I apologize for myself yesterday. Chuck needs to learn he isn't a FREAKING weather expert simply because he can click the mouse on his laptop.

Y'all did the right thing, even if I'm disappointed we have to wait an extra week. GO DAWGS!! BEAT HOUSTON!!

    Re: Game postponed.....

I heard the real reason that they postponed the game was because they spoke to the Shreveport police and asked how long it would take to get everyone out of the stadium after the game if Shreveport got some wind and rain. Turns out they weren't sure they could clear the trafic from the stadium in time for the next weeks game against Houston.

The current projected path basically tracks along I-49 right over Shreveport at 7 PM Thursday night:
