It's not like when I was a kid and it didn't really matter as long as your grades were fine. You can have 5 unexcused absenses in a semester. We've had unexcused absences for driving up Friday for games or trips to Disney during the school year, but you do have to watch it.
Tests are generally given every Friday. If it's unexcused, he won't be able to make-up his tests, and by checking him out early, he will probably miss some practice tests that when he scores well enough exempt him from his Friday tests. Just one bad test grade can really screw up the 9 week average. Two years ago, one bad score caused him to drop from an A to a C because the teacher didn't give a large enough sample of tests in that quarter compared to the others. Kept him from making the A honor roll for the entire year because of one 9 week period. Vette wouldn't let me talk to the teacher. If it were just as simple as an unexcused absence, I wouldn't worry about it. I usually let him miss two or three days a year just to give him a break if he's been performing and behaving well.
I'm inclined to agree with you. In the one game I watched, I was impressed with the number and size of several of the athletes on Ruston's squad. Although, I do think they did perform as well as expected in the playoffs. Some games they probably shouldn't have lost as badly as they did, though. They've got a Sr. wr this year, don't remember his name or number, but he looks like a D1 player as far as the eye test. Don't know how good he is though. I'm really actually thinking about going to the games to see this team. I guess I need to get involved in the community since I've been here for three years now.
I'll skip the whole Laird thing. it is irrelevant. The team should ,of course, not come to the Tech game the day before their own game. As for everyone else, either they are going to come or not and this doesn't have a darn thing to do with it. If you have to look for an excuse not to come, then you were never comming anyway.
RHS has a very good QB in Gatlin. Unfortunately this is a weak senior class for RHS . Don 't know if they will be able to block for him . The Moore kid is a definite sleeper. Great hands.
Gatlin is the best QB at Ruston since Alsup, and maybe since Ramsey. He's big and athletic, and has experience chunking the ball around in a spread offense. I am sad to admit I don't know much else about my alma mater's football team this year, but the new QB should make them competitive. I guess we'll find out next Friday against the Tigers. Neville never! Bearcats forever!

Neville beats Ruston 23-2
Apparently the good night's sleep they got Thursday didn't make a bit of difference. So much for missing the Tech game to get rested for their game.
heard a rumor that ULM asked Monroe/W. Monroe schools to move games on the Friday they are playing Baylor in order to get more butts in the seats for TV game. If so, then ULM may have done the first thing right since starting a nursing program.
