As others mentioned, demographics are the problem. I also gave too much credit to the union voters. They remain greedy and clueless. Combine that with lack of moral absolutes and we may not have many more chances.
That's what so distresses me. Electing the first openly gay senator and easily reelecting Jesse Jackson Jr., whose behavior has been labeled "bizarre," are tangible evidence for me that the Almighty may have finally relinquished his protective hold on this nation to allow us to follow our own lusts and greedy desires and to incur every consequence that will accrue from those actions.

    Re: The End Of America

The South was right to secede. 151 years ago, states chose to leave the union because the political atmosphere in America was going a different direction than what the conservative southern states were willing to accept. Tooooo much federal government, intervening in the individual states' matters. As y'all know, we went to war over the role of the federal government. The northern, unionist machine had the power and resources to subdue the South at gun point and force its will on our region of the country.

Fast forward to 2012: The north (and northern-looking) states are again FORCING their will upon our beautiful Southern homeland: WE WILL accept such moral decay as same-sex marriage, legalized pot, out of control spending, forced contraception/religious liberty infringement, federally funded abortion, and numerous other offenses to a civilized, moral society.

So...as I think about this...can we try that whole SECESSION thing again? PLEASE??

a different angle, I am starting to believe God is not being as passive as your post suggests. I believe He may be about to break this country, and his method of choice was replanted yesterday.

If Texas leaves I am crossing the border quickly with my family. This is a very sad day. We were allowed a chance to take a u-turn from the evil that we have allowed to take over the country and foolish people chose not to. We will pay very dearly for this bad choice. One thing that I can't get out of my mind today is that "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess..." Unless we witness a miracle, the path that fools have chosen will not be the one that God intended for America.

The Republicans will continue to lose as long as they continue to define so many groups as the enemies. The more people you make as enemies the fewer people you can try to appeal to as friends.

The real enemy is the communists/socialists. There is no need to blacklist homosexuals, Muslims, recreational drug users, Latinos and women.

    Re: The End Of America

Everyone's taxes have already gone up. HC insurance has skyrocketed.

Now, everyone's taxes will go up again....effective in January. And HC insurance premiums will take off like a Saturn 5 rocket. Of course, that is obummer's plan, to completely destroy the private healthcare insurance industry. That is why the penalties for NOT offering HC insurance to employees, is HALF what premiums cost. If your goal is to truly assure everyone has access to HC insurance, you would encourage/help those already offering it. Right now 165 million Americans are covered thru some kind of employer-offered group plan. Does it make sense, then, to make dropping coverage more attractive for businesses?

My CPA told me of a Louisiana company that currently pays out $350K annually in HC insurance premiums to cover their employees. That cost is due to increase to $515K by 2014, after all of obummercare kicks in. That same company can opt to drop coverage and pay an annual $200K fine instead. Hmmm....

Oh, and remember, all of this is because, we are told, there are 30 million Americans w/o HC insurance and apparently no means to ever acquire it. That's less than 10% of the population. But then, less than 10% of the population couldn't qualify for a home mortgages and we fixed that problem via sub-prime mortgage loans. And you saw how that turned out!

Can this be reversed after the 2014 mid-term elections? Er, provided enough Americans, by then, have had enough of obummercare and other libtard policies? There was a time when I would have said, Oh yeah! Americans always rise to the occasion. But, now I'm not so sure. Beginning 50 years ago libtards got hold of public education and the dumbing down of America has paid dividends....like last night.

I am going defensive. I have already moved tons of investments into IRAs and off-shore. This week I will finish that task, and be shielded against the tax increases. Most investors have, or will, do this and instead of getting some tax revenues, the US Treasury will get Nada, Zilch, Nuttin'!

Companies are moving toward more and more part time workers, causing hardships for those who held fulltime positions. Oh well....gotta remember "the wealthy" have always been the smartest people in the room.

BTW, and I'll comment later on this, just finished reading the book "Financial Turmoil" by George Soros. An interesting read, to say the least.

Good luck to everyone....except salty. This too shall pass.

I think it has more to do with the dems embracing anything and everything controversial. The Republicans don't but every time a candidate makes a comment regarding anything controversial the news medial lights them up.

The RED states should secede and charge the BLUES a toll to drive through or fly over.

This is really not a sectional dispute, as it was in mid-19th Century. It is an ideological dispute. Haven't seen the final vote count, but roughly half of America voted against obummer. That vote was not cut along state lines.

Now, figuratively, yeah, the same motivation that compelled the South to seek its own direction exists to motivate those of us that still believe in America....not some mooslim-socialist experiment.

Confederate General Patrick Cleburne spoke to his troops the night before the Battle of Nashville, late 1864. It was a desperate time for the South, who was losing the war, and the attack on well-entrenched Union army defending Nashville, was the height of desperation. They all knew the chances of success were very slim. But, that was the hand they had been dealt....

Cleburne reminded his troops that "they" or "those people" as Marse Robert would say, were NOT fighting to defend the Union. That was only a pretense shielding their real intentions: a one-world government. Yes, it is true, this is well-documented among the letters and official correspondence on both sides. Many on the northern side, expressed concern back then, that they might be fighting for the wrong side. I have a copy of Cleburne's entire speech, somewhere, as it was carefully documented by journalists who witnessed it. But the gist of it is a warning to us today. This notion is also discussed in the book "The Shadows of Power" which focuses on the international banking system. You Ron Paul fans can relate to that!

Anyway...out of this "Lost Cause" rhetoric of the 1860's grew the notion that Americans would eventually recognize the truth. That led some zealot to coin the phrase: Save your Confederate money, boys. The South's gonna rise again!

Well, again, it is not a geographical "South" that needs to rise, but rather an ideological one.

Increase the dole! Increase the dole!

Where can I sign up for free stuff! I want my obamaphone! Unfortunately I believe we have reached AND passed the tipping point. When more Americans care about what the government can give them instead of having a bigger vision for the good of the country, its begins the road to Greece. Hate it for my children.

The Romans thought their empire would never end. The Babylonians thought their empire would never end. Americans think their "empire" will never end.

"Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late... It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision... The conqueror's policy is to divide the conquered into factions and stir up animosity among them... It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties."

    Re: The End Of America

The days of "rich white guy" republican candidate are over. The President's and Governor's sons "silver spoon" candidates such as Bush and Romney don't have a chance anymore with the demographics of the electorate. The names are in quotes because that is Democrat strategy 101, it is too easy for the Democrats. There is no way a candidate like Romney or Bush can empathize with the struggles of the middle class and poor. Called it class warfare or whatever but it is the truth. People that are struggling to survive can't look past that at the voting booth.

We need a candidate, that can say "I have been there, I know what is like to struggle. And this is how I became successful" I think this would make a big difference with middle class voters especially in the Midwest.
