We finished in third place in a WAC that did not have Boise, Fresno St. or Nevada. Our TEAM was quite stoppable.

SJSU and USU were stronger than Fresno State and Nevada. They are both Top 25 teams.

We've gone 17-8 in the last 2 years.

6 of the 8 losses were to teams that finished in the Top 25 (Southern Miss, Houston, TCU, Texas A&M, Utah State, San Jose State).

We are 17-2 against non-Top 25 teams in the last 2 years. That's pretty good.

This team would beat our 2008 team easily. Even with our current defense.

Even our 4-8 2009 team would have beaten our 2008 team.

Have you had a season knowing we could win every time we teed it up. Every great team we have had got shelled by a few people. This team had a chance to win every game. Never had a season like that before.

Finally, name a team with more heart and soul. Never seen anything like this bunch!

Exactly. I cant believe so many on here think we would put ourselves in a position to not end up in a bowl. These kinds of reactions are why this board gets such a bad rep sometimes.

Actually, we are taking a calculated risk (as opposed to a blind risk), which I think is the right thing to do even if it doesn't work out.

You are spot on LFR. There was no benefit to Ibowl and the calculated risk is a done deal with this K-State win! I also this Dykes is staying which won't make you happy.

I don't know how to assess close losses, and I take little comfort in them. What I DO know is that we have had a number of teams that have finished better than third in their conference.

Well, I'd put the 1971-1974 teams against any teams we have had, or any teams alot of schools have had. The 1984 team was very good as well. I also remember Slaughter, Robertson, and Bradshaw QBing some good Tech teams.

In the highest classification, if memory serves, I think we had equal or better teams in 1975, 1977, 1990, 1991, 1997, 1999, 2008, 2011. I may be off on some of the years, but I'm in the neighborhood. Memory not what it used to be. But, upon reflection, I'll go back to my original statement about top 10 all time Tech teams, and this years team not being among them, or at best, at the bottom of the list.

Uh, Dont think we lost a game in '72.

'73 team only lost first game. We lost because refs sucked... and Pope missed a field goal as time expired.

You can guage your team by it's losses. I wouldn't think as much of our team if A&M would have beat us 63-10 and Utah State would have beat us 41-10. Those are Top 25 teams, and both games could have gone either way for us. We are probably a Top 30 team.
