That tweet was based on Jerry Palm's calculation of the BCS. Palm has changed that prediction and now has NIU at 17. I've said it before and will stick with it. Memphis.
NIU will definitely jump to 17. Making the jump from 17 to 16 is the hard part. I'll post details related to the computers once the Harris Poll is posted.
Hard to know which way to go with this...NIU in the BC$ gets Tech a worse bowl bid but around $150K of extra BC$ income.
Why do you say that? Three teams immediately in front of NIU --Texas, Kent St and UCLA-- all lost this weekend. Plus, Boise (at 10-2) struggled to beat a 7-5 Nevada team, 27-21. Also, Michigan, ranked #19, has 4 losses. So I could easily see how a 12-1 NIU team could pass the Wolverines & Boise with their big win in the MAC championship game.
That's 5 teams NIU could easily jump this week. 21 minus 5 = 16.

What are the payouts for Liberty, HOD, and Independence?
Payouts go directly to the WAC. For at-large teams, the payouts are not the listed amounts because they have to be negotiated. However, that really doesn't matter to us. For any non-BC$ bowl, we will get $375,000 from the WAC, plus reimbursed for travel expenses for travel party of 185 by the WAC, and opportunity to earn an additional $25,000 from the WAC depending on ticket sales.
