Apparently Old Mexico has closed. Heard of two more restaurants coming soon. Can't disclose what they are, as the deals aren't done.

Monjuni's sold and is now Little Pizzoli's, or something like that. Ate there this past weekend and the menu has not changed at all.

I also heard the Bistro has closed, but I have not driven by there to confirm. Been hearing that was coming for a while. Someone please correct me if that is false.

Could it be they aren't considering Ruston since it's so close to the almost-closed one in Arcadia? Did it start out as a tanger mall? Regardless, it's fading away so they may not want theirs so close to it. If they can't support we can't either is their thinking? I would like a nice one like in Gonzales or Terrill.

Yep, I have a feeling when Smith can look out his south bedroom window and see the gulf, Tanger will talk with him about that mall.

Little Pizzoli's has added a few new items. Sausage po-boys and burgers I think. Drove by the Bistro and from all appearances it is closed.

That was doomed from the start. Having such an expensive place in a small college town was not going to work. The locals who could afford to eat there, can't eat there every night.

I think it would have been fine until their original chef left. It just sucked after that.

That's too bad. I really liked Old Mexico, although it wasn't one of those places I had to eat when I came back to Ruston.

Does anyone know what is going on at the old Cajun Cafe? Also, what's going in the old Blockbusters? Just curious, and I know someone on here will know. I also see construction started at the corner of Hwy. 33 and Frazier Road. Is that a mental health facility? That's what was reported on here at one time, but then supposedly they ran into a bump in the road.

Yep, that's supposed to be the mental health facility but they'd do a lot more business if they put it within walking distance to Pea Ridge.

Owner wants a hotel with conference facilities and a major chain restaurant. Nothing firm yet. Was told deal on the hotel "all but a done deal" about a month ago. I won't say the brand, but it conflicts with another location where the owners are negotiating for exactly the same brand.

Why has it taken so long? That land was cleared, what seems like, 5-6 years ago.
