Assuming that the Tech side was the only side that had Tech fans (I promise it wasn't), what say you about the rest of the stadium? The opponent was of the same caliber. It was freaking cold. Admittedly, the time was different and this year the more was worse. There was a legit 40k in 2008.

There is no doubt that Tech fans have shown up in force when playing in the Indy Bowl, but Warhawk fans had a good showing, especially considering it was an early friday game(not an excuse, just a fact) . Now it aggravates me when people blame the weather but I do agree that people taking their kids would think twice if the call is for 45 degrees with rain.....

My problem is not with ULM (or their fans), my problem--as a citizen of this region--is with the lunacy of the I-Bowl officials! They should have waited for the games to play out in order to land the best possible match-up.

There was no rain at this year's Juco Bowl. The weather for this year's I-Bowl was no different from year's past (except for the 2000 Snow Bowl and 2011 Flood Bowl). It's ALWAYS freezing cold at the Indy Bowl.

People who post that the I Bowl would have likely had a larger turnout had Tech played in it are missing the point. It is completely within the I Bowl's prerogative to schedule teams that precipitate poor attendance. Tech students, alums and fans have nothing to say about that, any more than the I Bowl committee has any say in Tech's scheduling their own games that precipitate poor attendance. That's because Tech and the I Bowl are separate institutions with separate agendas. Similarly, it is the I Bowl's prerogative to set whatever deadline it sees fit for a reply to their offers.

Since Tech students, alums and fans are invested in the institution that is Louisiana Tech, they should concern themselves with the management and decision making at their own institution, not some other one that they're not invested in and have no say in.

As a long-time patron of the Indy Bowl like many Tech fans are, we are invested in the Independence Bowl. We do have say, and as for myself, I will never support the Indy Bowl by purchasing tickets again as long a Missy Setters is in charge. I encourage all LaTech supporters of the Indy Bowl to do the same, including Advocare.

EXACTLY. It quit around 11, about 2 hrs before gametime. I ran into 4 NLUlm fans in town about 11:30 amd they were so happy that the weather had cleared up. Really enjoyed visiting with them, quality people and fans, they had stuck with the team even in all those lean years. No weather related reason not to show up. REAL FANS ARE THERE FOR THEIR TEAM. Bandwagoneers and johnny-come-latelies stay away.

PERFECTLY STATED, yet ignored by the Belcher trolls who disregard the truth. Y'all could have had your long-wanted match-up with Tech, the I-Bowl cronies could have nearly filled the stands and PROVIDED OUR AREA WITH AN EXCITING GAME. It was the I-Bowl's egomaniacal snit that cost the area this match-up. Over and out to Belchers.

There are several ways to grow here:

1. Get a real and concerted effort to recruit students from the DFW area. Our recruiting efforts are extremely poor and lacking.

2. Get marketing the game versus Army in the DFW area. Start with our alumni and move to potential high school seniors.

Universities like Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma Christian, and Oklahoma have full time recruiters that live in Dallas. They are constantly working the DFW area for recruits.

My son has discussed attending Tech next fall. There are two additional students now applying from LoneStar.

All of these are instate fees.

TCU per year $46,000
UNT per year $15,000 per year in economy hall w/ 5 day meal plan $18,000 for new dorms and 7 day meal plan
SFA per year $12,000 per year

La Tech per year $13,000 for a Tier 1 university

Collin College (Collin County Community College) has a large enrollment of kids who could not get into Texas and Texas A&M. As RHShirley stated - if you are not in the top 10% of your graduating class, you cannot get into Texas or Texas A&M. You are stuck with Texas Tech, UNT, Texas State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Texas Womens, or another of the 25 or so state universities in Texas.

There are 4.5 million people in the state of Louisiana. There are 6.6 million people in the DFW area. As a business owner and sales person, this statistic is very telling.

There are: 4,000 students in grades 10-12 at Allen HS
2,000 seniors in Frisco ISD
7,500 students in grades 11-12 in Plano HS

There are probably 100,000 seniors in the immediate DFW area. Without adding them up by hand.

Great data. I'm guessing there are 20K to 25K graduating seniors each year from Collin County alone. That would include the ISD's in McKinney, Allen, Plano, Frisco, Wylie, Celina, Princeton, Prosper, Lovejoy, Melissa, Farmersville and Blue Ridge. Denton County probably has similar numbers.

Wrong. This experiment already happened. We played a MAC team in the I-Bowl that also didn't bring anybody and there was a lot more people in the stands than the Ohio/ulM game.

And it was extremely cold that night too. That I-Bowl game in 2008 was the coldest I've been at a football game since the 2001 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho.

We filled both sides of the IBowl and the ends, You guys didn't fill the middle chair backs (looked totally empty) because your alumni and fans couldn't afford them I guess.

Y'all, you would expect upset fans to send emails. You wouldn't reasonably expect the Chair of the Committee to reply with the tone of what was received, via a mobile device.

These days every professional worth a grain of salt has his or her professional email on their mobile device. We live in a mobile society. I reply to my work emails from my cell phone all the time. It's how you do business today.

I didnt say it was raining, I said the weather report called for rain which might have kept some people with kids away.....I thought it ended up being perfect football weather
