Independence Bowl sets sights on stability

It became the "Summer's Eve" bowl in 1997 when they snubbed a 9-2 Tech team with wins over Alabama and Cal and a close loss to Ark in the worst officiated game I have ever seen. I haven't supported them since and will not, unless Tech is playing. Last year just kind of put the icing on the cake.

And THAT....as Paul Harvey would say...is the rest of the story.

It will be difficult for them, since they only have 10 fingers and 10 toes!! May have to get all their officials in the room and have them take their shoes off. Onesy, twosey.....

I have never considered them as loser or toilet bowl appearances. Unless TECH was playing in the I-Bowl, I had NO interest in the I-Bowl at all. They usually get 2 teams from Cattlegap, Egypt to play. I care about neither team, so I don't go to the game. Each team's fans have to travel a long way...so no participation from the two schools playing....but, not my problem. As for the I-Bowl being the "Toilet Bowl".....in my opinion....that is what it became last year. If anyone wants to support it...go ahead. But I WILL NOT!!

Neither will I unless Tech is invited and we except. It for me about backing Tech. 6 bowls since 77-- I froze in Boise, Had a blast in San Diego and made the 4 I-bowls . Tech in- I am in. simple as that As for last year, at least you can flush a toilet-- the stuff in the toilet is what stunk last year ( well, Ohio was ok)

oh good grief--my last chance at helping you understand, also my last look at this thread. New Orleans bowl pays out 500k per team. I -bowl pays out 1,100,000-- non bowl tie ins get less. Travel expenses are first thing negotiated, ticket committment is negotiated, anticipated Neilson ratings based on ESPN historical data is negotiated. Conference affiliatation is considered ( all Wac teams get a share so wac commissioner is involved) ultimately a payout is agreed on that all parties agree--this is OLD<OLD data that has been beat to death on BBB. 7-800k at best, but my point is you start with 500k with n orleans bowl at best, I bowl is 600k more when you start the negotiation than N O . thats it, done with I-bowl thread. My support started with first I-bowl ( McNeese) and ended 2012- I will support it only if Tech is invited --
