My super lib neighbor called out to me as I was parking the car in the driveway today. "Hey Rich I got a snake over here!" He had about a two foot (3 or 4 rattles) rattle snake that was in an old pile of wood in a metal bucket. He had moved the bucket from his driveway to a place in between our houses about 4 inches from the compressor for his air conditioner. So, he took the effort to move the bucket but the snake was still alive and his hands were shaking. I looked into the bucket and the rattler seemed to be quite comfortable there. I had already retrieved my shovel. With is voice unsteady he said he had a gun and "We could shoot it!" if I couldn't get to it with my shovel. I let him off the hook by telling him that he would probably take out his compressor with the gun. I was really thinking that with his shaking hands a metal bucket and a compressor sitting on top of a concrete slab, I didn't want to be anywhere near this idiot with a gun. I killed the rattler for him, which is what he really wanted me to do in the first place so he wouldn't loose face. Threw the thing across the street in the green belt where the wildlife could feed off of it. Then I pulled his chain about the new load of rocks he got for his concrete driveway (he had the last pile for about a year and a half).
So I haven't had the opportunity to update on my OK State neighbor in the past few days because my cable, phone, and internet has been down. The two are connected. My neighbor decided to take a couple of days off after my comment on his new rocks for his concrete driveway. He decided to put some paver wall blocks out front along the property line and use the rocks to fill in where he has taken plants out. He has finally decided to do something about the weeds the grow there all year long. The rocks are supposed to prevent weeds from growing despite the fact that leaves and dirt are going to get in between the rocks and weeds will continue to grow. This guy is a real nature trooper and refuses to use fertilizer on his yard but bird poop. Anyway, he is digging the place where the blocks will go and has them stacked up in columns vs staggered to give them mutual strength. I made the mistake of advising him that these blocks need to be staggered or they will come down in the next rain just like his rock retaining wall did 4 times in the recent past after rains. He decides that he will instead dig a little deeper for more stability and keep the blocks stacked in columns. I gave up on advising him and went inside. My wife is talking to her sister on the phone when the phone goes completely dead. She tries turning it off and back on but no dial tone. She uses her cell phone to call the cable company but is tuck on hold. I take over the phone and eventually get through to a real technician. We go through all the diagnostics with the tech implying that he is getting no reading from my line at all. Then it dawns on me that my neighbor is digging right on the property line! With the phone in hand I go outside and ask, "Did you by chance cut a coax cable?" Yah I did but I went inside and every thing seemed to be working OK! Why do you ask? I'm sure you get the gist of where the problem was and I won't let you in on the conversation after that because I might offend some readers. He owes me a nice bottle of bourbon which might make up for being stranded from the internet, phone, and cable. It reinforces my belief I need to keep a close eye out in that direction but not too close (remember this guy has a gun.) It also reinforces my belief that him and his ilk want to have their guns but want to take the guns of those without regard to their civil liberties when they need to be worried about what peoples' intentions are and how they form their logic. This guy does everything backwards!

Sounds like a neighbor I had years ago. He was an idiot and an Ahole...but that is another story. That is why...when I moved here...I got a corner lot. My closest neighbor is across the road. My next closest neighbor is about 40 yards behind and to the right of my house. On the other side of my house is woods. No close, jerk neighbors.

That is only a small sample of this guy's warped reasoning. My biggest fear is his poor judgment and at age 72, I don't think it will get any better over time.
