Let's just say this about attendance. If SMU and Cincy drew actual 30-40k per game they would be in the big12 or ACC. It makes a tremendous difference IMHO.
Bowl games are no different, a those fans are visiting and thus investing heavily into the area! That's the payoff for the community who has to deal with the crappy traffic and disruption.
Tech and lsu have been the best selling shows in the Indy Bowl over the years. lsu won't be going back and the Indy Bowl doesn't want the other team that has bailed them out two different times. It will take sombody besides BVDV to work with BB and the Indy Bowl for a C-USA option.
Just say," NO" to the I-Bowl!!!
Maybe so, but there is a relatively simple solution to that complicated problem.
If ADs didn't like their kick-back cruises so much, they'd realize that collectively they could have the leverage to swing the balance back in the direction of the schools (or even the fans).
I can see why it's nice to know ahead of time roughly what you're going to make on an event as far as setting your budget and helping the children and all, I just don't see why schools agree to let bowls dictate this when all the bowls really offer is a building and an event that each individual school is able to pull off on their own 5-8 times per year.

More bad news for the AdvoCare V100 Bowl.
I suspect the ACV100 Bowl will soon celebrate the 8th SEC selection after the College Football Playoff.
There is no limit to the number of teams per conference that can be selected for the CFB Playoff. I guess there is a theoretical limit. The SEC could theoretically get 7 teams in the CFB Playoff.
I would expect about 3-4 SEC teams to get selected for the CFB Playoff every year. That would bump the ACV100 Bowl down to around the 11th-12th selection of SEC teams. And that's being optimistic. Good luck to them actually landing an SEC team.
I thought the playoff was 4 teams. You think that the SEC will get 3-4 for teams every year?
