I would ask him to help out as much as he was willing and offer him to come back in whatever capacity I could get him back. Leon main role on the floor would be working with the post players. He is an awesome post coach.
2. As soon as I hung up the phone with Leon. I would be calling Nell Fortner and asking her to please come back and work with me. I would use whatever recruiting tactics I needed to get her back because, while I am a really good recruiter, she is a for USA National Coach and she just carries so much style and grace every time she walks into a facility.
3.I then would get her input on who we should call next, I would ask her if she wanted to call Amber Obaze or if she wanted me to make that call. We need a coach that is fresh and that can relate to the kids that we are bringing in. Amber just won a state title and she is happy but still hungry for more. Amber would also be a great guards coach that can make things go for you every time she steps on the floor.
4. I get three coaches and that final full time coach would be someone that I know would do all the little things well and would be a team player all the way. I want someone that when she walks in a building she gets the respect she deserves and someone that is not only relevant to the game but current in the game. I would reach out to Cheryl Ford. I would work around the WNBA aspect so that it was a win - win for us all.
I would essentially surround myself with people that were better at what they do than I am because it is true you win with people and it really does take a secure person to surround themselves with individuals that know more than you know.
Come on peeps have some fun and lets play. We are being given the chance to blow up the program and see what your program would look like.
