Thanks! Man, they are having to go slow, aren't they?
This was yesterday. It doesn't look like they're working today.

My old room is still standing in both dorms.![]()
maybe, may be not
they were at it today , thanksgiving day
I witnessed 3-5 floor tv rooms all go at once yesterday...really cool. I have long dreamed of those dorms becoming dust.

Lived on the 11th floor of Nielsen and the 6th floor of Caruthers in 91-92. Those were the days when you got put with a random roommate and hoped it worked out! I still keep in touch with my old roommates! Those dorms were in bad shape 20+ years ago. I remember that to stop the elevator in Neilsen you'd have to estimate what floor you were at and push the doors open and hope you were right. Usually you'd be in-between floors. Communal bathrooms and wide open showers, no privacy, poor A/C, man kids have it spoiled these days! But I wouldn't have changed a thing....it was a non stop party. My room in Caruthers was directly over the entrance door. We used to toss out the little firecracker poppers as people walked by. On windy days we'd toss a roll of toilet paper out the window and in no time it'd be wrapped all over the cars in the lot. Made a lot of great friends in those dorms and a lot of great memories. I transferred to LSU in 93 and always missed Tech. Even today I feel a greater connection to Tech than LSU. Visited the campus today for the first time since 07 and was shocked to see the dorms coming down. Took a few pictures and almost shed a tear.
I drove by yesterday to take a look in person, since I was in town. They were working early in the morning. I expected to see a big wrecking ball swinging back and forth, but it looked more like a cinderblock on a chain. This may be another 6 months at this rate. We should hire Molly Cyrus to swing in on a real wrecking ball and finish them off.
You're post made me think of something that hadn't crossed my mind in years. We used to make "beer can cannons" and go up on the roof and fire them off at night. Would shoot a flame six feet long and sounded like a mortar going off. Only one time did campus security come up and tell us to 'get the hell off the roof' but not before they got to fire one of them off one time!
