You said it was a "perfect ball". It was not.
I said it was not a difficult catch.
Just pointing out that it was an easy pass, but not perfect.

Wow... slow day.
Even with new leadership it is the same ole Tech, it is like Reneau never retired. Hire a coach's son, then he sucks, then we don't fire the coach because we are too cheap and don't care about sports, really bad attendance and then the bottom falls out and our leaders might think about doing something.
Won't happen!
If you've been following along the past decade or so, everything bad that has happened in athletics at Tech is DR's fault. Guice was lauded as the savior of Tech athletics by many on this forum. Well, I don't blame Guice for skippy. But, now that the situation is blatantly clear, the question is what will Guice do? And who IS responsible for hiring that Southland Conference kid as our AD? Guess that is DR's fault too. Even if it is, again, Guice is NOW prez...what will he do to rectify these bad hires?
I would have preferred to hire Tim Rattay with little experience to try to wing it as Head Coach than a proven loser like Holtz. If Rattay was our coach I bet we would be bowling this year.
They buyout in essence is only $400K after next year. We got $500K from California for Dykes, saved $600K on Holtz vs. Dykes two year annual salaries, for a two year savings of $1.1 million. I am sure we saved money on the assistant coaches as well, especially the OC. We would owe Holtz $1.5 mil after next year. Deduct the $1.1 mil. saved (plus Franklin's excess salary) and we are only less that $400K away from breaking even!
In addition, we get an up-and-coming coach for $350K for the first year, plus incentives, and this is doable.

Why take a risk on unproven Coach like Tim when there are several Coaches that have been sucessful as 1 AA Coaches
that run a similar program. They would be glad to get $400-$500,000 vs hiring a Coach because he is the son of a very
sucessful 1 A Coach.
Look at Art Briles and how he and Malzon were very sucessful as High Scholl Coaches for several yrs. They skipped smaller
coleges and Jr Colleges
For every Gus Malzon there are 3 Todd Dodges...
''Don't be a bad dagh..."
A first year head coach just took his team from worst (0-8 SEC) to first (BCS Championship Game).
For the record, some of the old timers on this board will recall that I recommended replacing Jack Bicknell with Art Briles way back in the early 2000's. It was when Briles was still transitioning from Stephenville High School to Texas Tech as an assistant coach. This was when Briles was still at TX Tech, and a year or two before he went to the Univ of Houston. I recommended firing JBIII and hiring Briles. Of course, the usual suspects on this board --in all their brilliance--told me I was crazy for wanting to hire an unproven "Texas coach" with mostly high school coaching experience.![]()
