I don't recall Alec Baldwin being fired from any entertainment gig either, as he was only fired from a spot as a political commentator (something he isn't qualified to do anyway).
MSLSD never went through with firing Bashir from his news gig, but I can guarantee it woudn't have taken them five seconds to fire any conservative in the same situation.
Some people in America agree with Phil's comments and will support him because of similar beliefs. Others who might not agree with Phil's beliefs toward homosexuality will support him because they don't like it when other people attack someone based solely of one's personal opinions.
MSLSD did nothing for days on end before Bashir finally left. The point you apparently refuse to acknowledge is that a conservative would have been fired by MSLSD immediately without a second thought...absolute double standard typical of a left-wingnut media organization.
I didn't "refuse" to acknowledge it any more than you refused to answer why it matters from which kind of network Baldwin was fired. There's nothing to acknowledge--it's a fact that MSNBC waited, not an opinion.
Another fact: none of the firings or resignations I mentioned are first amendment issues.
Phil Robertson got in trouble relevant to an interview with GQ Magazine recently, when he said: “It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus, that’s just me.” When asked for his opinion of what he felt was sinful, Phil replied: “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” But Robertson also made it clear that it’s not his job to judge anyone: “We never, ever judge someone on who’s going to heaven, hell. That’s the Almighty’s job. We just love ‘em, give ‘em the good news about Jesus – whether they’re homosexuals, drunks, terrorists,” he went on to add.
Seems to me he has a right to give his opinion. Now, A&E has banned Phil from being on Duck Dynasty. Makes me wonder how many gay people actually watch Duck Dynasty. Even if all ten of them quit watching....so what!
It's also a fact that MSLSD would not have waited with a conservative commentator.
I already answered on your other point. Baldwin was fired from a political commentary host position (fortunately only after five episodes aired), not from an entertainment position. Robertson has never been a political commentator, so the only parallel would be if Baldwin had been at least suspended by the LSD parent network from "30 Rock" during its run. News network hosts should be held to a higher standard than entertainment personalities for obvious reasons.
I also don't expect that the 11-hour "Duck Dynasty" marathon on A&E Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning will be edited to remove Phil from any of the episodes.
And the family responds tonight:
“We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

I think you're right about that. My hope is that he stays true to his beliefs and tells A&E to take a hike. I'm sure that sounds like a contradiction to folks who don't like my beliefs, but I don't have to share Phil's beliefs in order to support his right to hold them.
And . . . . tonight . . . . UNDER ARMOUR, Duck Dynasty's biggest sponsor on A&E, said tonight it WILL NOT cut its ties to the program. Well played Under Armour.
