My biggest knock on Holtz is that he's sideline soft. I'm so accustomed to seeing Dooley and then Dykes coaching mad. Chewing players, chewing refs... just generally pissed from the opening kick til the final horn. Sideline soft may be trivial when compared to actual coaching ability or schemes but I feel that so much of the game is attitude and I feel our team, along with a general lack of roster talent, had almost zero swagger about it.

I agree with this. He is not a hard ass. But he has been successful with this style in his career. The defensive coordinator doesn't see to be a fiery personality either. I wish he was. I noticed ULL's head coach last night was very passionate.

YES! because skippy sucks! Next year is equally predictable, skippy, and thus Tech, will suck again.

Get it yet? Surely you're not THAT slow!

I get it for sure. That's what everyone keeps saying around here. The Head Coach sucks and won't let the players make plays because he likes to keep games close. Therefore we will always suck as long as he makes them refuse to block and throw crappy passes and drop passes and get tackled immediately after catching a 3 yard screen pass, and turn the ball over in the red zone and miss game winning FGs and get run over, and get burned deep. Players are awesome, he just won't let them show it.... except Kenneth Dixon (he must like that guy).

I dunno. Even KD took several steps back this year, off of his awesome 2012 campaign. Crappy coaching affects everyone. The better players can resist it longer, but it eventually catches up to all of 'em.

Do you know what a Straw Man is? You keep repeating this one. I haven't read ANYONE say that the players are awesome. Surely there is something between awesome and 4-8 with the easiest schedule since we moved up.

You have to follow along. 80 said he knew we were going to suck when we hired Holtz. I said most of the nation knew we were going to suck before we hired Holtz. Most seem to think the head coach (not all the coaches, just the head coach) is causing us to lose and very few will say it's because we lost a ton of players and are playing with a bunch of new guys. I've even seen them poo poo that as just an excuse from the head coach. JL, we were freakin terrible. Be thankful our schedule was so easy or we would have been blow the f out a lot! (like what Rice did to us).

Ok T1 but promise me this...

Promise me we won't have the excuse next year that our schedule is too tough or that we are still young.

Eventually you have to stop making excuses and be judged by results.

A screen pass does not work if the defense knows that it is coming, especially since it is the only pass that we seem to throw. You need to be able to throw the ball downfield for the screen passes to work. You have to blame that on the play calling and not the players.

I agree with this. I think KD --who is a tremendous RB-- eventually had enough of the half-assed effort his coaches and teammates were giving last season. He mailed it in towards the end. It was hard to get him to take the field.

Completely and TOTALLY not the point. After the poor performance of his coaches and teammates, the "beast" (as you describe him), was looking was a nice corner to hide in by game 10.

Promise. We will lose to Auburn and Oklahoma because those are great teams. We should be able to win the other 10.

You do realize he got injured on the first play of the game against Rice and didn't play against Tulsa and UTSA? The last game he played was USM and he had 200 yards. Some of the crap y'all say.

But he only played 9 games. The kid's a stud. I can't believe y'all can't even see that.
