Well the issue that originally hijacked this thread has been settled. Can we pleeeaaasse let this thread die now?
And I get the irony that posting this moves it to the top.

If only we could find a way to do some target practice too.

If it just takes education, when will the educated figure out which of the many theories are correct? If they want to be truly educated, they could look in Genesis and see the correct theory right there..... in the beginning God... Then the rest begins to make sense. It's really fun to see scientist explore and understand things and always ultimately prove the Bible true.

The fact that we have 96% genes in common with a chimpanzee (depending on how you crunch the numbers) is not surprising. The fact that we have more genetically in common with a fish than a platypus might be more surprising, but tells more of the story of the respective species ancestral heritage. Around 25% of our genes are also shared with plants. Current estimates put common ancestor for plants and animals at ~ 1.5 billion years ago. This crude high-level look at genetic similarity is not nearly as convincing as when you get into the weeds and see genetic similarities between species that would have no reason to be there but for common ancestry, for example, vestige organs and superfluous or redundant common codons.
I'm not exactly sure what you said here, but Who created the genes and the DNA or did it evolve from something else? Why don't we see other species evolving into something other than what it is? Why does everything seem to have a specific and or different purpose? How do we explain a bumble bee vs an elephant vs a whale or a tadpole or a caterpillar that later becomes a butterfly? How do we explained all the different reproductive systems? What a stretch to believe that just given enough time, all of this can happen.

Sorry, I was reading from where I left off yesterday and didn't see the end first. I'm ok if we move this conversation

If you are curious what scientists have to say, look up "abiogenesis."

Why don't we see other species evolving into something other than what it is?
    1. It is unusual because evolution usually takes thousands of years. Evolution has only been known about for 200 of those.
    2. But we have seen some recent examples. If you are curious, look up "recent speciations."

Why does everything seem to have a specific and or different purpose?
I don't know why it seems that way to you. Seems to me that the only "purpose" that most living things have is to stay alive and/or reproduce. The reason that is common is because that is how that DNA is passed on. DNA that does not lead to that "purpose" doesn't last very long for very obvious reasons.

How do we explain a bumble bee vs an elephant vs a whale or a tadpole or a caterpillar that later becomes a butterfly?
You mean, like in a fight? Seriously, the answer is DNA, which when transcribed expresses different proteins, which have different biochemical properties, resulting in cells that perform different functions or sometimes similar functions differently.

How do we explained all the different reproductive systems?
Evolutionary explanations make far more sense than using a rib. Our ancestors over a billion years ago reproduced asexually. No we have chromosomes (specifically one that we call the Y chromosome) which causes the body of those having the Y chromosome to express certain hormones and convert female equipment to male equipment in utero.

What a stretch to believe that just given enough time, all of this can happen.
A billion years is a long time. Think about how much has changed in just your lifetime. But seriously, I had already more or less answered your questions in previous posts.

Respectfully, your post highlights the need to keep creationism out of science class. We are obviously not doing a good enough job covering the basic sciences, particularly in biology, as is.

I plan to make a trip down towards your neck of the woods some time in June, and if you're ever up this way give me a shout. There are a few ranges up here.

I keep seeing this debate come up. Is teaching creationism in school new? I grew up in Louisiana going to elementary school throughout the 80's and high school in the 90's and not once were we ever taught creationism. Evolution was always present. When did this stop?
