Re: If you want a thread to die

Been a "ruff" week. With all that is going on in life, and getting on this board when all this news is breaking, just doing well to get caught up. I've been just overwhelmed.

So far as this board, on the one hand, I really believe Tech athletics is about to turn the corner back to good times. I think we've paid our dues, so to speak, and the character and conscience of the leadership is good.

The other "hand" is the amazement of what goes on in this forum. I have spent too much time reading the "Spoon" thread. That is very revealing of our culture today. I haven't posted there but once ("How about someone with Spoon's vigor and passion, Leon B.' knowledge and determination, B.L.S's attitude and character?"), because it would serve no purpose, there, to get to the real issue. It is just saddening to think of how people who have not experienced God can be so blind, and equally concerning are those who profess to know him but present Him as "their Idol," how they define Him and not necessarily the way He reveals Himself: loving, holy and just. We tend to leave off the part we struggle with. I'm not in the mood to get yelled at.

Didn' t know there was a battle in Springhill. I thought the Yankees coming down from Arkansas were turned back north of the border.

They were coming from Alexandria and headed toward Shreveport. There was a battle at Pleasant Hill...not Spring Hill...my bad...there was also a battle at Mansfield. The yanks went running back to Alexandria, La. I'll correct the previous post.

Another Union division set out from LR to take Shreveport. Prior to that campaign, Camden had been a bustling port and the second largest city in Arkansas. A series of battles in south Arkansas eventually repulsed the Union advance, but the region's male population was decimated and the city never recovered.

That's a fun reenactment. Been about 4 years since I've been but a guy in my church takes a group of guys over every year.

Some say it was stern opposition, but my revisionist history says they smelled the paper mill and decided to turn back before they got to S'hill..

I think Benton's great Grandfather was one of the chief defenders. (Again, revisionist history) says Abner B. Johnson ran out of ammo and began repelling the invaders with cow manure. That was what turned the tide. Hey, you read this on the web. Gotta be true!:icon_wink:

Whew what a respite from Women's Basketball - Leon Barmore's Legacy!

Some of those folks need to get a life!

One thing I learned after flying jets for 20 plus years in the Air Force the philosophy was if you can't eat it, fly it, or f*** it...it wasn't critical!
