I agree completely. If you didnt get nervous watching Dixon hobble after that one run late in the game or our WR getting up slowly after the TD catch, then you simply were not watching. (so many WR tds I cant recall who it was) Many teams fall into this category, but as an up-and-coming program we are susceptible to this. I am always grateful when we come away injury free.
I love the optimism on the board; the Dawgs deserve our respect from the last two games. I am confident we will have a strong showing at home next week that will continue this trend.
There has been much talk of Holtz’s success. However, I am very impressed with the Defensive Coordinator. The fundamentals appear to be very strong. We have a balanced team, something we have not experienced in some time.
All of this good stuff aside, I believe we will have a reality check coming at Auburn (yes yes I’m jumping ahead). I just want us to be competitive in that game.... and winI do NOT want to see a repeat of Oklahoma. Yes these are both top 5 programs, but I simply don’t give a damn. If you expect the best and work hard to achieve it, you get the best in return. Our guys know they are better than that season opener and the last two games have proven it.
Proud of you guys - keep it up, GO DAWGS!!
Who changed the title of this thread? I kinda liked sunshine jumper.
It's a nice change from last year. I have been impressed with Holtz coach selection from day 1, but Diaz has been a godsend. Sokol has been a huge improvement as well. I don't think anything will change my opinion that we under performed last year, but they are exceeding expectations this year and I am thrilled. It's always going to fall on the coach, it's kind of his job. I think this team can do great things this year. I haven't changed my expectations, a bowl game should be no problem barring major injuries. I don't expect us to beat Auburn, but I think this team has a real chance to compete for a conference title.
So does this guy: http://cfbhuddle.com/2014/09/11/two-...ouisiana-tech/
"Skip Holtz knows a thing or two about winning Conference USA championships. He coached East Carolina to a pair of them in 2008 and 2009 before replacing Jim Leavitt at USF.
Holtz is back in C-USA and in just his second season at Louisiana Tech, has a team that looks very much like a contender for his third league crown."
Last year's team seemed rudderless. I wonder if the ULL ish talking lit a fire. It damn sure did for Skip, he was pissed after that game, and it spilt over to the team. We came out with purpose again against UNT. Whatever it is, I hope we keep it up. I am finally optimistic about Skip after being down on him. Go on the road and drub two opponents, that is impressive no matter who you are playing.
I don't know if I would go that far, although I disagreed strongly with the people who said we had no talent last year. A lot of the players that were underutilized last year are making a big impact this year.It also doesn’t hurt that Holtz inherited a well-stocked cupboard
I don't want to bury this team with expectations. They have surprised me so far, but I will try not to let that raise the bar too much. Lets just keep going one game at a time.
He inherited some nice DL (and added Bates) and DBs (and added Woods). Beau Fitte was the only LB he inherited.
The offense is almost all Holtz's players besides Dixon, Greenwalt and Hunter (and Tevin sometimes).
I think that is in reference to Dixon; that's about the only thing Holtz inherited. It's like opening the cupboard and their are priceless golden serving utensils, paper plates, and cracked glasses. It also doesn’t hurt that Holtz inherited a well-stocked cupboard
