I guess the self praise by these guys is that they have been pumping the staff and players since February while most were skeptical. I for one did not see these beat downs coming and am pleasantly surprised, but I try my best not to make assumptions on a team based on last year's results. UNT and LTU are prime examples...best to wait a few weeks into the season before making assumptions. I think we still have some god football games ahead of us that are going to be very competitive. The success of our team is key to the health of several key players...wasn't overly impressed by several back ups. Your resident optimist/realist MILOBUMP

. Ok -- give me a break-- first time I gloated like that--just took a lot of hits for being optimistic and our group finished off Red Stripes and Few bottles wine. That said, I am glad I was right, now we have 9 games and bowl before we can rate this team. Most folks did not see my post before kickoff-- mentioned hunter-turner- gaston ( TE/fullback-- did not know his name) said if we stopped running game we would blow them out-- feeling pretty good about that prediction

I love the optimism on the board; the Dawgs deserve our respect from the last two games. I am confident we will have a strong showing at home next week that will continue this trend.

There has been much talk of Holtz’s success. However, I am very impressed with the Defensive Coordinator. The fundamentals appear to be very strong. We have a balanced team, something we have not experienced in some time.

All of this good stuff aside, I believe we will have a reality check coming at Auburn (yes yes I’m jumping ahead). I just want us to be competitive in that game.... and win I do NOT want to see a repeat of Oklahoma. Yes these are both top 5 programs, but I simply don’t give a damn. If you expect the best and work hard to achieve it, you get the best in return. Our guys know they are better than that season opener and the last two games have proven it.

. Without sounding hokey-- thanks for your commitment to military. Spent time in DC area when dad at pentagon. Looking forward to old dominion game, we were at armed force staff college and looking forward to getting back to Norfolk for few days

What I see is that we recruited the right players and coaches for the job and Holtz is now calling the offensive plays. I see creativity on offense and a defense that is tight! Holtz was blamed last year for inheriting a depleted team. He went out and got what we needed to put something together and is doing just that. Give those that saw it credit! I am the biggest optimist around and even I did not give Holtz enough credit. I was nervous he was building an average team and that scared me. He wasn't, though, and I am big enough to say JOB WELL DONE to Holtz, his staff, and our team. I, also, am big enough to compliment those that saw it all summer and told us what was coming. It took guts to stand up for Holtz after last year. They were blasted on here and stuck with it. My hat goes off to them!

It didn't take guts to stand up for Holtz. This is all in good fun. It's a message board that discusses college athletics, food, politics and has the best thread ever. Stop taking yourself so seriously. What a bunch of drama queens.

Good post. It's not as if we were rooting against Holtz. Every Tech fan I know was pulling FOR HIM.

But to your point....if anyone doesn't think the line is "thin" between last year and this year, just look at how Ryan Higgins and our 2nd (and 3rd) teams performed in the 4th qtr against UNT. It was awful. And we could be just one or two injuries away from that.

Or hell look at unt. Look at what poor qb play has done to them.
