It's interesting you say that. I noticed neither Higgins or Burch could throw a pass worth a crap the other night against UNT. It was very disappointing. I even commented on it here on BB&B. Fact is, Holtz may have to show Higgins and/or Burch the same door he showed Scotty Young. We can't continue keeping QB's on the roster that can't hit the side of a barn. It's Holtz's job to figure it out.
I thought we made a mistake with Stallworth years ago by not running the same/similar offense that Rattay ran when he came in for mop-up duty in 1999
Really need to run our offense to see if they can run it in game situations - it does you no good now to THINK they can't run it, let the player prove it one way or another

''Don't be a bad dagh..."
Actually, it did. The first question I asked during Higgins' debut was "why are we asking our brand new QB coming in cold as ice to throw a sideline screen pass 15-20 yards to a WR down the line of scrimmage?" The risk is high, that throw is hard to make cold, and it's got to be made very quickly. Talk about putting your people is a bad position....Geez.
Play-calling with Higgins and Burch in was vintage 2013. I'd much rather run the same thing at all times. If a guy can't do it, go find someone who can. I feel strongly that Holtz wouldn't have taken as much heat if he called plays last year like he's calling this year...regardless of the outcomes.
They practice a lot. We don't have the privilege of watching them, but they all run the same offense. There may be "packages" put in for a unique ability (wildcat or such), but they don't have different plays for different QB's. All QB's don't make the same decisions. It's hard and that's what separates the good ones from the bad ones.
I don't think anybody on here was married to the spread, per se. The problem was not even attempting to stretch the field, thus allowing every team we faced to load the box on Dixon. I for one would have been fine with the failure if we were at least showing a desire to try and stretch the field.
Thankfully, Holtz has come around (apparently). Yeah, it is easier with Sokol at the helm, but we need to continue to be committed to balance and attempting to open it up even after Sokol completes his fantastic Senior year.
T1, please ignore HD. He wouldn't know a good coach if he saw one. One of the best in the game is in his own damn town and he once called his style boring..........!
