The band dudes only have excuses. They are pretty good until you think about all the time we have to plan and all the willing donors that aren't reached out to. I think our band is lazy.

You have no idea what you are talking about. The only reason the marching band went to San Diego - the ONLY reason - is because band alumni and one major athletics booster donated the money. You can think what you want, but you shouldn't post it unless you know it.

It was not intentional. I can't speak on behalf of the band as I'm just an alumni but I can assure you the "SoN" represents the university well and with class and they would not have done anything like that on purpose.

Yes it was. They played over the videoboard and our band the entire game. I know this because of two things:

1) I Personally know the NSU band faculty, and 2) NSU people/alumni are claiming they "won" the band competition...

...which they did if anyone was keeping score. Us winning the "band competition" would have been comparable to their football team beating ours.

I thought the performance was fantastic. It did irk me a little that we allowed that in our home stadium, to pump up the opposing team. Again, no disrespect (I loved the band!) but I'm not sure it was a good idea.

visiting bands can play whatever they want. They did nothing wrong. it's like telling the visitors "your cheerleaders aren't aloud to cheer for your team." It's stupid to expect anything otherwise.

From what I know, band members work extremely hard with very little reward other than self satisfaction.

2. Winning the "band competition" was a foregone conclusion. The NSU band didn't need to prove anything.

3. The game yesterday was the first away game I have encountered, as a student and alumni, other than LSU where the home team played the alma mater at the end of the game.

4. The NSU band RARELY even sees other bands so it's not like they were expecting the BoP to play the alma mater at the end of the game.

5. This is silly.

You have no idea how well I know them. But for the record, I'll admit I don't know Matthews well, but I've known Brent and Green for 20 years, they heavily recruited me, and I've worked with them on a variety of state "projects" over the years, which gave me opportunities to have "those" conversations with them. Plus, I am close friends with several of their colleagues with whom they are also close.

I know them well enough.

In my estimation playing the alma mater after a home game is pretty ubiquitous.

I'm not gonna pick this hill to die on, and reasonable explanations have been offered. I'm somewhat mollified.

1. Bill Brent was not even in attendance and Ken Green hasn't called up a song in the 20 yrs he's been at NSU lol.

2. From the home side you could hear them just fine but not on the visitor side. I was sitting next to the NSU band and the only time you could tell the BoP was playing was the distend sound of bass drum.

3. You can't control everyone's opinion on social media. And quite honestly because we (me included) expected to lose the game. For most people the band was going to be the only positive aspect of the game.

4. Standing RIGHT NEXT to the SoN, on the visitor's side, you could not hear anything due to all of the screaming by the NSU fans still near the band. The NSU band has a tradition of when the team walks up in front of the band they play the fight song. Nothing more to it.

5. Because I was there not 5 feet from where this all went down and regardless of whatever they may have said doesn't mean they're going to let 300 college kids do something to embarrass NSU.

6. Enjoy your Sunday...hopefully the Saints right the ship today and get the defense on track.

Probably none of the three picks could be blamed on Sokol entirely...two hit receiver hands and were tipped up, and on the other one the intended receiver stopped on the route.

I'm more concerned with the last fumble. That is a correctable error which clearly hasn't been corrected from last year. When a team needs just two first downs to win the game, the object is to get to the line to gain and go down. The object is not try to get meaningless extra yards past the line to gain and put the ball on the ground.

But with that said, there was no way that game should have ever come down to either of the last two drives that resulted in turnovers.

I would argue that SoKol made some very bad throws and bad reads against NSU. He threw a couple of the interceptions into double coverage. Also, it took Manny Diaz far too long to figure out how to address the back side Blitz NSU was using. One of those 3rd Atr sacks was VERY hard, and put Sokol's health at risk.

And a dropped wide open touchdown pass by the same guy who cannot decide whether or not to return a kickoff out of the endzone, plus a WR QUITTING on his route leading to an INT,...

This "W" was GIVEN AWAY due to sloppy, undisciplined, careless effort by Louisiana Tech players.

Fact is, we're just not a good football team.
