Quote from Skip Holtz:
On looking at conference championship possibilities:
"We talked last night in our big picture meeting, which is what we have on Sunday night, about the conference race and what is going on. Everyone is going to start getting into who has to beat who. They go on the road to play them and what happens if that happens. Then everyone starts projecting. I told them that we cannot fall into that trap. Sitting down and trying to project the future is a waste of our time right now on the inside. I understand the media and the fans, which is part of the excitement of winning. For us right now, we need to find a way to go 1-0 this week. After that we can go through the open date and take a look at how that is shaking out and we will have a lot clearer picture of what everything will look like in two weeks."
I'm a fan so I can get caught up in the excitement. The coaches and players, not so much.
thanks , hopefully leadership of bowl will change one day , its not the bowl that irritated all of us, its the leadership-- I was much more p...ed about our 10-2 season and getting no invite -- 2012 had a coach who cared less, a goofy AD , Liberty Bowl folks and I Bowl committee. Karma got them, Northeast laid a giant bowl movement on their bowl -- I can see Phil Robinson in mix, good for PR Tech and Bowl. Old Tech qb now putting up millions for bowl ( which is not the case but when has the truth stopped marketing?)
Reality -- we would have WAY more fans at a game in Shreveport, Dallas or Forth Worth than the other choices being mentioned.
Good old Memorial Gym
At 6-6 we are NOT guaranteed to play in a bowl - at 7-5 we are...
If we get to 7 wins - I plan on going to anywhere except the Bahamas or Hawaii -
1st Choice would be HoD, 2nd would be Indy, New Mexico is a very distant 3rd....

Sadly none of our options are incredibly appealing. Location and timing make most of them tough for fans to attend, and the remaining 2 (Indy & HOD) are a case of BTDT.
Independence Bowl
Pro- Best payout(IIRC), likely highest attendance, minimal travel cost, on ABC, good for recruiting, Not the day after Christmas, Chance to remind Indy Bowl Committee how stupid they were
Con- It's the Independence Bowl, constant reminder or 2012, It's the Independence Bowl
Heart of Dallas
Pro- Short travel for most people, low travel cost, good for recruiting, on ESPN, It's not the Independence Bowl
Con-Early afternoon game the day after Christmas leaves little time for tailgating or Pre-game events, played at the Cotton Bowl last year
I'll be happy just to go to a bowl game, and even happier if it's one that I can actually attend, just sucks that our best options are some of the least appealing.
I saw one prediction of us against Pitt in the I-Bowl. Beating the crap out of an ACC team on ABC the Saturday afternoon after Christmas would be pretty damn good exposure.

I heard that all CUSA bowl games must be filled before we can accept the I Bowl. I think we have 6 bowls, so 7 teams would have to become bowl-eligible. Is this true?
What's the deal with the rumored AAC connection to the Indy bowl? Is it true that they can select EITHER a CUSA team or AAC team?
