I'm becoming convinced that, as population increases, there necessarily arises an inverse relationship between the rule of law and individual liberty.

But we can discuss that some other time.
Seems simple and straightforward when first considered, but assuming you mean any law, my interest is piqued.

Rule of Law as in the principle that laws should govern. Not referencing any particular law(s).

Interesting. My first thought is that whether it would be an inverse or direct relationship would be dependent on the number of laws and regulations there are. I will ponder it. You give me things to thunk on.
It's time to close the doors to the Temple of Janus.

Well, in that case, I'd say rule of law certainly has an inverse relationship with any government official who "rules" without regard for actual laws.

And Pelosi and Reid and Hillary and every Democrat and on and on and on.
Democrats think it's ok to lie for "the better of their higher cause" and their PC religion much like Islam does in all honesty.!!

You just described the opposite of the rule of law.

So, yes -- a given thing usually has an inverse relationship with its opposite.

Government is functioning pretty good, actually. Could it be better? Absolutely. Won't be as long as we have the full-bore progressives and socialist in charge. Lazy idiots, too.

You can't dismiss the "know how things are done" angle because they would have to work in the system as it is. Yes, change it, but still have to work with it. They can't just ignore laws, rules, regulations, etc. We have had 8 open years of that outright, probably more in reality. We want them to be different than what we have and do the things the right way.

But the main reason I say fresh blood is bad is because of the brain-drain it causes. Experience trumps everything. The United States under Obama should end that discussion once and for all. A term-limited Congress would have too great of a learning curve to know how to handle anything. That's dangerous on every level for everything.

Now, if we were to make Congress similar to how we do our military and private businesses hierarchies, career progressions, et al, then we could really be on to something great.
