No pickups backed up to the north end of The Joe with LSU-appareled guys sitting in the back of the truck looking over the fence this time. They'll have to buy a ticket, too. . . . or pay a premium for their parking.

I think you are really underestimating the 'Southern' crowd attendance. It will consist of Southern, ULM, Grambling, and NSU fans as well as HBCU fans in general. None of those regional schools have a game in N. Louisiana on Sept 5th and it is Labor Day weekend. They would all be absolutely ecstatic to see Southern pull off the upset.

DW, I can live with that thought process. Something like 3-4,000 Southern fans, 2,000-2,500 football fans, and 20,000 Tech fans. However, I just don't see 30 Southern U RV's, 40 charter buses, and 7-8,000 fans who are officially affiliated with Southern as a student, faculty, alumni, or traveling fan. Again, I hope I am wrong.

You are most definitely wrong about your estimates, sir! Most definitely wrong! But thats okay! After September 5 has come and gone, you won't be wrong any more. ULM, GSU, and NSU supporters aside, mno fewer than 8000 SU-connected fans will fill JAS. Its a shame that you've got see it to believe it.

I know southern has a great rep for travel. I am in Alexandria and I know when they have played at NSU in years past they have big crowds. but it seems to me as I have seen some southern home games the last couple of seasons on cox sports that their home attendance is not what it once was. still, I hope its a great crowd. I do not see the casual NSU, Grambling, etc. fan at this game. holiday weekend, bunch of games on t.v. first weekend. we shall see.

You're Rights about that. Going through some rough patches and changing a few tailgate polices will have that effect. Plus attendance was down around the entire country last year.
Even so we were still in the top five fir attendance in all of the FCS last year. I expect it to pick back up this year.

In all honesty, there has been some drop-off in attendance since Hurricane Katina. Much of our fanbase resided in the NO area, and with the NO area losing more than 100,000 in population, that has affected SU to the tune of approx. 2000 per home average. But our numbers are still very good, and, for the first game of the year, they will be excellent. More than 10,000 visitors will converge on the Tech campus on the first Saturday in September, 2015.

How many tickets is Tech sending to SU? Last year ULL sent 2000 tickets initially. They were sold out in a matter of hours. They sent 2000 more, but they too were sold out. Many SU fans ended up driving to Laf to purchase tickets. I have personal knowledge that the Morehouse Parish SU Alumni Assoc. has submitted a request for moe than 200 tickets and the Monroe-Ouachita SU Alumni will soon, if not already, place an order for more than 300 tickets.
I'm just one Tech fan but I booked eight of us for the game. Hope SU and Tech fans show. Looking forward to a big crowd and a fun game.
Miss St. brought less than 2000 fans & you all think SU is going to bring 5K. That's just crazy! NSU brought about 4K...but we have a history with them and they are much closer.
