They should be put in prison if convicted. In addition, those guys should be, and are, the priority for removal:

"As this operation makes clear, ICE is committed to prioritizing convicted criminals and those who are public safety threats for apprehension and removal,"

We can agree on putting those criminals in prison and deporting them when they served their time.

As for California allowing drug offenders to stay it concerns simple possession of pot. Pot use shouldn't be any of the government's business. I can promise you that drug dealers get put in prison and then deported. Nothing has changed.

The liberal game show host that is running for president claiming he is a conservative is full of crap when he says otherwise.
It's time to close the doors to the Temple of Janus.

the four million refugees who have fled Syria. But they
are settling in new places, and more are on the way.

Well all except for this rino clown.

There is one candidate who is clearly on the record wanting more Syrian Muslims to pour into American cities and towns as “refugees,” despite the fact that at least one of the seven attackers in Paris had a Syrian passport and entered France as a “refugee.”
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who positions himself as a war hawk against ISIS, is co-sponsoring legislation with Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., to nearly double the amount of funding Washington spends on resettling refugees from Syria.

In this case you wait and vet them. And the majority are not "masses yearning to breathe free" . That's not the islamic/muslim way of life or religion.

The arrests come after an ISIS terrorist bragged about how easy it was to smuggle thousands of covert jihadists into Europe under the guise of being a desperate refugee.
The Syrian operative claimed more than 4,000 covert ISIS gunmen had made it into western nations, hidden among innocent refugees.
He said members of the blood-thirsty group were following the well-trodden route taken by refugees and migrants fleeing Syria, travelling across the border of Turkey then on to boats across to Greece and through Europe.
The man claimed there are now more than 4,000 covert ISIS gunmen "ready" to strike across the European Union.

I don't want to deny anyone, but what's wrong with due diligence?

Not a thing. I'm just not sure everyone speaking out on this issue agrees with the first part of your statement above.
