Just remembered that Southern returned a kickoff for a TD too. And we roughed the punter at Miss State when we were still in it and would have gotten good field position, instead they drove down to put the game out of reach.

The fact that we roughed him was not the problem. The fact that a rush was called at that point was the problem. That is more bad coaching.

All coaching staffs analyze the year after the season and look for ways to improve. I would imagine the kick coverage and return teams will be an area of study and hopefully improvements

I don't believe this HC or his staff do. They have been consistently bad for 3 years.

The play was called to block the punt, not "try to block it". That player knows the angle to take. It was a horrible call considering the situation. Punting from their own 10 (ball on 20) would have given us the ball in good field position and only down by 11 at that point. The game was over after our defense allowed them to scored following the penalty.

We also allowed a blocked punt in that game that gave Miss St the lead going into the locker room.

Special teams are just bad and always have been.

yeah I don't know why he doesn't do that. I often find myself saying. We should just score here, but sometimes they don't do it. Weird.
