I'm so gad we didn't hire this clown Todd Monken. I believe our leadership detected some character issues in him during the interview process.
I hear Ellis Johnson is looking for a Head coaching job. Maybe USM will rehire him.
Well guys, it has been a Twilight Zone kind of day. Got up this morning to read about three nice commitments and more on the way. Feeling like the dark days were over and recruits were pushing to come to USM instead of running and hiding from our coaches like they did the last few years.
Not sure what will happen now, but I hope that our AD doesn't panic and make a quick hire. While we will probably lose some commitments, better to do that than hire another 0-12 head coach. Good thing this happened on Sunday and my local pub was closed. Might still be there enjoying too many adult beverages. Oh well, good luck with your signing class. As always, the best to you guys.
On a serious note, we feel for you guys. Same thing happened to us a few years ago when a very successful head coach at LA Tech named Gary Crowton left Tech for the Chicago Bears during the week of NSD. I was PISSED!

Don't forget the part that he left right after talking us into signing all the assistant coaches to one year contracts to keep stability. Then we couldn't fire them all because we couldn't afford to pay them, so we hired from within. Crowton did it to protect his Utah buddies from possibly being unemployed when he bolted. I think about half the staff was from Utah.

There needs to be a link to head coach resigning ends the contract. Crowton told us he wasn't leaving and wanted the contacts so we didn't have that clause. I believe he knew what he was doing
All lsu coaches have the miles clause that gives lsu the right to terminate their contract if miles is fired or leaves. Chavis did not want it so left for A&M
No up and coming coach would want a contract. Diaz would not have accepted one.
It is crazy to see what many "G5" schools are paying head coaches, only to realize that it is nowhere near enough to get them to stay put when the "P5s" come calling.
