You need to see it if you get a chance. The city of Boston is 53% Catholic and there are 1500 priests that are governed by one Cardinal. In 2002, the Boston Globe reported that 87 priests had sexually molested children and the Cardinal had moved them from one church to another to cover it up. Many of them were moved multiple times. Nobody had exposed this because of the influence and power the Catholic Church had in Boston and The Globe would not have investigated it if they had not just got a new editor who wasn't scared of the Catholic church. The Globe wrote several stories about this in 2002. At the end of 2002, the Cardinal got a big promotion to Rome. None of the priests were ever prosecuted. Is this what we call religious freedom? There were several thousand people whose lives were ruined because this was ignored by the Catholic church for many years. When there is criminal activity by a religion, it needs to be dealt with and criminals should be punished.

I would ban all Muslims from coming to this country. The FBI already says they do not have enough agents to watch the ones they consider dangerous that already live here. They have no rights under the constitution unless they're inside our borders. If you'd like to learn more about Islam and how it treats women and children, read Ayan Hirsi Ali's book, "Infidel". She made her way from Somalia to Germany and then on to The Netherlands at the age of 20 after being raised as a muslim and now lives in the United States and is very outspoken about this corrupt religion. Many muslims would love to kill her. They did kill her producer of a documentary on the evils of Islam in The Netherlands. There is nothing good about Islam. The teachings are heinous and evil and awful. These people are very barbaric and I'm not just talking about Isis. They mutilate young girls genitals and force them to marry as early as 12. Hirsi Ali's grandmother was the one that held her down while some barbarian took his knife to her. She was in a lot of pain for over a week and lost a lot of blood and was very sick. It was also very painful to urinate. There is no such thing as rape in Islam. The woman is always blamed no matter how bad she is beat up. They want every country to be ruled by Sharia law. It is definitely the biggest threat to our society and our freedom. There is nothing that I see that is going to change them, not even education.
I saw the movie. Wasn't it something like 4 percent of the priests were abusing children (according to the psychologists study - and the Globe's analysis of Boston area was consistent)?

If so, you are more likely to allow a child to get abused letting a Catholic priest into the country in comparison with having someone become the victim of terrorism for letting a Muslim in. But that's the problem with discrimination. Someone could cite that study to support the discrimination of Catholics.

It was 6%. That figure came from a former priest who had been gathering information on the abuse for 30 years. No one would listen to him because the church kept telling lies about him.

You can not let them in America anymore as in Islam it's acceptable to lie for the advancement of Islam and sharia law. Therefore you can't vet them and they must not be allowed in.

Apples and oranges Guisslapp my friend. Cutting off the heads or burning alive of all religious and people groups for not worshiping Islam's Mohammed is way different then child abuse. Both criminals exhibit unacceptable sinful behavior needing to be put away or put to death for sure. But one (Islam radicals: some say in truth maybe 1/2 a billion at least) want and will execute mass genocide of all people on the earth that don't believe the way they do and don't want sharia law. Apples and oranges.

Apples and oranges, just like Christians and Muslims, are all fruits.

    Re: 2016 Presidential Campaign

Great Debate last night. Trump Rubio and Cruz all let it fly. I thought they all did well. Trump won based on the sound bite war but the Cubans brought the fight to trump. I felt sorry for Carson and can't figure out why kasic is still running.

I want Trump tested and I thought he did ok last night. Rubio was aggressive but I still can't see him as president. Cruz was good also but he speaks too much like a lawyer and his having no friends in Washington hurt him.

Trump uses the kiss principal to get his points across. Keep it simple stupid.

These 3 candidates look great compared to tired Hillary. I feel good this morning.

The very idea of toleration is despicable; it supposes that some have a pre-eminence above the rest to grant indulgence, whereas all should be equally free, Jews, Turks, Pagans and Christians."
    "Turks" there means Muslims.

Despite their rarity they were specifically a part of the early discussions of freedom of religion. That quote is from a Baptist preacher who was instrumental in getting Madison and Jefferson to craft the 1st Amendment the way they did. Strange bedfellows and all that, I suppose.

This is the reason (well, one of many reasons) that Evangelical leaders have been pretty out-spoken against Trump. As has been pointed out several times, a government that can discriminate against Muslims based on their religious beliefs or background can discriminate against Christians based on their beliefs or background as soon as the next election.

    Re: 2016 Presidential Campaign

Trump was humiliated on the issues because he has no plans. He did terrible on the Israel/Palestinian conflict (willing to negotiate with terrorists). Rubio punked him saying, "Donald thinks this is a real estate deal." Terrible on Obamacare (he likes it but it needs to be tweaked, but government still needs to control it). Also, Cruz busted him lying about him saying he's never stood on the debate stage and said socialized medicine works well in Canada and Scotland. He also sounded ridiculous talking about "the little lines around the states." He couldn't explain how he would get Mexico to pay for the wall after Vicente Fox told him he could go F himself. He lied about saying he was not for ousting Khadafy. Cruz exposed that giving money to Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and other hard core Democrats actually hurts the country, and he didn't understand how that works. I wish I would have taken notes. Rubio explained to him he doesn't know what he's talking about because he doesn't pay attention to politics. In the real world, he was effectively destroyed and should get no votes from here out. But I think it was too late. Nobody took him seriously until now and by now, his supporters are too emotionally attached to him to abandon him.

They also gave Hillary some ammunition. He was sued and lost and had to pay a $1 million fine for hiring illegals. He is being sued for fraud for taking money for enrollees of "Trump University", which isn't real (Cruz said it won't look good for our candidate to be on the stand in a fraud case this July). He can't expose the Clinton Foundation scam because he is a contributor to it. He appears to be hiding something in his tax returns. We need to wake up.

I can understand people wanting to support Trump to watch the world burn. But they need to realize there is zero substance nor ground to stand on.

We DID wake up. The leaders of the GOP are all full of shit and we want no more to do with them. I registered as a Republican in 1977 and I've voted for a Republican in every election since, but that is all behind me now. I can't believe it's taken me 40 years to figure out that there is no difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. There's only the "insiders" and the rest of us. Only an outsider stands a chance of cleaning up the shit hole that has become Washington DC. If a Democrat or an establishment Republican is elected, this nation will only continue its decline into third word status. It is YOU, my friend, that needs to wake up to the BS the establishment is shoveling at us, again.

Boy you really despise Trump. I hate to have to tell you this but the debate with Rubio ended when Trump correctly informed him he was the only one that has actually created jobs and hired people. Rubio did make him look bad on Obamacare but Trumps positions are more in line with America on foreign policy and immigration than Rubio and Cruz. Trump will only get stronger after this debate. The tax returns do not mean anything. He has lawyers and accountants that prepare them for him, all he does is sign it. It is similar to what I do for a living. He could be worth 10 billion and not pay any taxes if he has great accountants and lawyers and loses that carried forward. Idiots will say, he did not pay any taxes and hold it against him, I look at it as his obligation to pay as little in taxes as he can legally.

I agree with you on that. What I don't agree with you is that Trump is the answer. He's not a politician, so he doesn't have a voting record to point to, but in his business, he does play both sides of the aisle. He donates money to both parties. He makes deals with Republicans and Democrats, mostly Democrats. He is not the answer you are looking for. He is not a conservative (admittedly). He does not see Democrats as the enemy. He is not principled. He is not smart (smart at making deals, but not intellectual). He won't fight Democrats, he will make deals with them (history has shown Democrats don't make deals unless they get what they want). He agrees with Pelosi that Bush should be impeached. He said Bush (not Clinton) was responsible for 9-11 (after 7 months in office). He said Obama could be great. He says Hillary is brilliant. I don't see the appeal at all.
