The game is changed and I don't like attending it any more.

Bottom line it takes too long to play a game

Fwiw, my upperclassman daughter dates a Greek. She doesn't know why they leave early. She had school work to do and didn't attend the game.

    I raised her right
I'm sorry, but that's just.....wrong. School work and real work will always be there. However, one's "college days" won't be. It's a shame that your daughter (apparently) doesn't enjoy the game day experience and supporting her fellow students.

I have my personal view on this. I also believe it's not a topic that will be considered by the administration.

The score was 35-14 at halftime yesterday. That probably has something to do with the quick exits.

    Re: Disappointed

some Students do not mind leaving early or missing the game entirely because there is no value in their admission in to the game. The students do pay for tickets when they pay tuition, but most do not realize it, they actually think they are getting free admission. compare it to socialized medicine, if you do not pay for it, you do not value it, therefore what does it matter if you show up or not. Students have to feel like they are getting some kind of value, some of the thought process may be, " hey, it's free, so I am not wasting any money if I do not show up". Students need to realize this is a benefit they are paying dollars for, they should be using it.
We are now checking tickets at the gates with bar code scanners, why not work on a reward system for the students showing up? I know we have hashed this out on the board before, but the bar code technology certainly could lend its self to rewarding students.
The rewards would have to be something that added value to the students attendance, we have mentioned third quarter give-a-aways in which you have to be present to win, that may help to some extent but do not think that is the answer. Every student who attends and has his or hers ID scanned should be rewarded in some way, give them points to put towards something, reduction in cost of parking permits, a free pass on one parking ticket for every two games you attend, etc..
I just think there are a lot of things we can do in-house to increase the student attendance, go to the Panhelenic(sp?) council and IFC and tie there members attendance to different awards or something, heck, make Greek attendance mandatory in order to remain in good standing at university. The students and Greeks can be inticed go make the games, just going to take a little innovation and use of the technology we already have in place. I guess that takes energy and resources from our administration though, yea, I know, good luck with that.

But, don't get me started on pet peeves re: football. It'll turn into a long thread.
The "azzhole" has already been identified.
    He's just a messenger.
Whether we have TV or not we will ALWAYS have a RED HAT on the sidelines calling TV timeouts. Why? Cuz the coaches WANT the timeouts in a tight game, plus they want continuity on game rhythm every game.
At the Texas Tech game, Fox Sports required four 2.5-minute TV timeouts per quarter. You do the math on how long that night went. . . . just for TV. --> 40 minutes!

PS--The head of the Grambling Broadcast TV program was on the sideline operating that hand-held camera. He said he had about 5 students working with him at the Tech game . . . . gaining lab/experience. He said 8 of his students were at games throughout the country, including 3 in California, doing paid gigs with TV production companies . . . and all travel expenses paid. How's that for a weekend job for a college student?

Hey hey hey guys...not everyone cares about football like us. Most Greeks write us off because we aren't big time. When we beat an Arkansas to start the year (maybe one day) we will anchor down these "whatever" fans.

I honestly don't think that will ever happen. I just don't. We have former athletes who would rather refer to LSU as "we" and spend their Saturdays in Baton Rouge than cheer for their alma mater. And these are the guys who invested their blood, sweat and tears into their university. And they still don't care enough. But we really think some lazy, entitled Greeks who just want to party and have a good time will eventually be fully invested? Not gonna happen, unfortunately. We are the minority.

There's a lot of truth in what you said. I know in the area of student recruiting, the average high school senior typically knows very little of CUSA, but at least something about college football in general. So in that area winning a CUSA championship is almost no help. Beating AR, Ole Miss, LSU, Miss St or TX a&m however does have meaning. And the collective mind of the subject groups of this discussion is possibly more like high school seniors than highly attuned football fans.

I'm not going to say I would rather we beat AR and TX Tech than say Western whatchamacallit or Middle whoever. But in many cases the kids we are trying to attract as students do know who Tennessee and Florida are, but proboly not middle and international.

It often literally means as much to these kids if we said we beat Northwestern State (which we did not) than if we said we beat Southern Mississippi.

So I agree with Dfor6 in that we better learn to beat who our target customers think are real teams. I guarantee NO sec coach would have set out their BEST quarterback for ANY reason against Arkansas.

As fantastically as Ryan is playing right now, I just don't know that we could have won *then*.

Tech teams almost always hit their stride mid-season. idk why. We almost always play better towards the middle-to-end of the season. Hopefully this is the year we actually carry that to the end.

If he was the clear started then, he wouldve done at least a little better. And a little better would have won the game. Better kicking would have won the game. Better refs would also have won the game.

Stop making excuses suport the university that you chose to attend or you should have chosen different. Again student are hear because they want the edcuation and contacts that Tech provides then fulfill the responsiblity to do what you can improve or at least do not impede or damage its reputation. Leaving the way they did, did damage with all the people watching and the Commishiner that was in attendance. Hope all those who supports other univerisities to go their and good luck.
