You're right. Thanks for the perspective. Overall, I just don't think they were more talented than our guys. I guess that's why it sucks so freaken much that we didn't get the W. I could swallow the losses to Arkansas, TT, and even MTSU (even though we should have beat MTSU). But USM; the team that lost to two of our conference bottom feeders? Tech was supposed to win that game.
........Say what????
I like Higgins as well as the next guy. But for the love of everything good, let's don't just lie about stuff. If Higgins didn't cost us the game, let's just say he contributed heavily to the outcome.
But I do agree that Holtz should have replaced him before the last 2 INT's. Also, once again, Holtz just didn't have his team ready to play.
I was a little late for the game, so I was listening to the beginning over the radio. I distinctly remember the commentators hyping up Higgins and in the same breath they made a comment about NFL scouts being present at the game. Maybe the pressure got to him. Of course, the injury didn't help. Overall, Higgins has impressed me this season, so I hate to crucify the guy over one blown game.
USM has played WAAAY UP for Louisiana Tech the last two year. Their team was determined to win and win BIG, we looked scared and panicked.
2015- Todd Monken had a grudge to settle against us and inspired his team to play lights out!
2016- Our players talked crap about 'embarrassing' USM on their home field and 'ending USM's season' and Sean Isabella had a field day writing about it DAILY for the last week and a half leading up to the game. There is a lot of blame to spread around, not just on the QB.
Stop giving out the excuses about USM played hard against us. Skip Holtz is the reason that we lost both games - outcoached from the get go - didn't have his teams ready to play important games after the BYE. He can only beat the bottom feeders.
Whelp, for whatever reason, our offense didn't show-up, maybe the bye week, several recovered fumbles (Craft's first fumble included), etc. Higgins seemed to have tried to push it too far and threw 3 INT's in four consecutive plays in the 4th. While our defense gave up a bunch of yards in the first half, I was very impressed by their performance in the 2nd half. Only play I can really fault them on was the false start where they just stopped and Mullens was finally able to avoid their string of punts by completing a 3rd & 8. Looking forward to the CUSA Champ game tomorrow, GEAUX DAWGS!!
I couldn't agree more. Dykes won more P5 games in 2012 than Holtz has won in his entire span at Tech (we have only beaten a bad Illinois team in the the 2014 HOD bowl). We have even lost to NSU and Kansas since he's been here. Yeah, he's had a few good moments, but the low moments have been really bad. Some posters seem to panic at the thought of Holtz leaving. I say if he wants to leave, let him go...
The players dont always execute. We remember the INTs, but there were a ton of fumbles we were lucky to recover last weekend.
