The only way to beat the triple option is one on one. Everybody has a tackling assignment and they stick to their assignment.

It's difficult to defend with zone tackling like we use. We line too far off the line.

Not sure HCSH will play the guys who can actually tackle. Some of you will blame Baker for deciding who actually plays, but HCSH is the one making these goofy personnel decisions (like punter and LBs last week).

Most of the teams we play are spread offenses, so a pressure defense makes sense, rather than always being back on your heels. But in any case, you should vary your defense where applicable and try to be unpredictable. You can still be aggressive playing a zone, but apparently not the way we play it. A good zone should not consistently allow guys to be wide open 25 yards down field like we see virtually every week.

I think only 3 teams gave up more passing TD's than Tech - Arizona St, Arizona and Bowling Green.

I see what they did. That's showing total yards, but we've played 13 games and most other schools have played 12. If you click on "yds/G" it changes us to 70.

Yep, I see that now. I didn't see a table for pass defense that showed us at 122. But 70 does look better than 100 for total defense and is more accurate.

Either way it's pitiful. And I would say the only reason we are # 30 in rush defense is because we were so easy to pass against.

Here's an encouraging stat:

WKU (#5 passing offense in the nation) and Texas Tech (#1 passing offense in the nation) got 1,749 yards on us 3 games. (583 yards per game)
The other 10 teams got 3,685 yards on us. (369 yards per game)... that would have been good enough for #38 in the nation.
