PawDawg, so what are you advocatin? Those that want a DC changes should be demanding a change at head coach? OR That those demanding DC changes should stop demanding anything. Recognizing Holtz responsibility for where we are at defensively is not mutually exclusive from also expecting him to make a change now.
And just because it's clear now that Holtz isn't firing Baker, doesn't mean fans can't continue to express their feelings about it.
officially threw with this dumb thread. We averaged 45 points game offense and 32 points surrendered. Make a list of the 10 teams we put 40-65 points on--post their defensive coaches name then make Baker 11 on the list. send coaches of those team a memo to fire their Defensive coach..... come back to real world. did you see packers last nite? Alabama ? etc etc. giving up 32 points a game is not unusual when you have spread offense.... No reason to respond to this--I am not coming back.. nothing to see hear--ready for signing day and spring practice

The funny thing is, that complacency is what has gotten us where we're at with one of the lowest budgets and on the outside looking in most conference realignment discussions. I don't need stats to know that the defense we had last year was TERRIBLE, anybody who watched objectively knows that.
I'm also not worried about die-hard fans (all of whom love and support their university) leaving a message board topic; I'm worried about the loss of potential Tech fans who might would have become real Tech fans if we could win a conference championship or make it to an access bowl.
Crazy stat I just discovered... 44% of the points scored on us this year were by Texas Tech (59), WKU (52,58), and MT (38). (207 of the 470 points).
They were the #1, 5, and 8 offenses in the nation.
Southern Miss had the #16 passing offense (even with Mullens missing a few games). Throw in their 39 points and that's 52% of the points we gave up this year (246 out of 470 points).
We were mediocre to good against non-elite passing offenses. We are not going to win this conference playing that kind of pass defense though. Although USM and WKU may not be as explosive next year. (MT will be, but they are not on our schedule).
Before you break you arm from patting yourself on the back, please remember that this statistic makes total sense because so many of the teams we played this year were so bad. Rice, UTEP, UMASS, S Carolina St & UNT were 5 of the absolute worst offenses in America. And UTSA wasn't much better. So it makes total sense that we wouldn't give up many scores to them. Most of those teams couldn't score in a whorehouse.Hell, that's almost half your schedule.

It's called a "what if" or a "hypothetical". That the proposed scenario didn't actually happen (or hasn't yet) is implied.

What if we kept JBIII for another season and didn't get Dooley because JBIII did win the WAC and beat the powerhouse Michigan on the road.
What if we kept Joakes as our AD instead of giving it to Dooley because Joakes loves Tech.
