    So you believe in punishing kids for the crimes of their parents? Or just the kids that don't look like you?

    It would be a complete failure of a moral government to reneg on the promise not to use sensitive information that was provided to the government voluntarily by the Dreamers (under the assurance that it would not be used against them) to send them to a county they don't know (and for some of them to a country that speaks a different language than they speak).

    If this goes through, it will be a stain on our country surpassed possibly only by slavery and Japanese internment.

    Hopefully reasonable people will prevent this from happening.

    Re: Immigration

    We are a compassionate nation. It's part of our weakness when it comes to making tough decisions. But, more importantly, it's part of why America is a great nation.

    Yes, those responsible for these DACA kids are criminals. Some say, we shouldn't punish the kids for the crimes of their parents and/or other adults who were responsible. Okay. Can we punish their parents?

    And, while this is not the best analogy, what should we do with the money and property attained with money from crimes, if it impacts children? Let's say there is a drug dealer or a bank robber, who has kids. And these kids are young and dependent on that person. He gets busted and authorities clearly identify money and property, all from criminal activity. Should the state leave those kids destitute, confiscate the house and everything else, and "kick them to the curb?" In this scenario there is no close relative who can take the kids in. Surely, we don't leave them some of the money just because they are kids.

    As I said, not the best analogy. But, why should DACA kids benefit from criminal activity just because they are kids? That's the dilemma. WHY should anyone get to benefit from illegal activities? Some of you may not remember, but this ain't the first time we've faced this as a nation, at this level of political rhetoric. Back in the '80's President Reagan agreed to work with the 'craps in Congress to author a bill that granted amnesty for all illegals at that time, but NO MORE ever! Most of us knew it was total BS! Reagan was hailed, even by his political enemies, for being compassionate. Yippee! It was just another ruse and another brick in the wall being built by the one-world commie bastards.

    I am conflicted. On the one hand, I am a compassionate person, a Christian, who doesn't like to see innocent people get hurt. On the other hand, at what point do we as a nation put our foot down and make a stand for our national sovereignty? Be cautioned by this point, too, those advocating all this open-border, forgive illegals, etc.. are NOT compassionate in the least. They are motivated by political gain, pushing that radical agenda. These DACA kids are just more pawns in their game.

    I don't have a final position, yet. As I say, I am conflicted.

    Re: Immigration

    Control the border first! Obama, Clinton, and most democrats did not want borders controlled. Many RINOs don't. They are fighting for votes, not being empathetic. Trump haters in general are for open borders and more free stuff for everyone.

    Re: Immigration

    Seriously, who wants to throw these people out? And why? Just because they don't "deserve" to be here. Apart from being a little less lucky to not be born here, what have they done to be less deserving than your own children or grandchildren? This is just psychopathic xenophobia.

    Identify the problem and fix it. The problem then and possibly now is the porous border allowing illegals to come in for free stuff. I understand what you are saying, but w/out border control, it's like this story of one of the old techniques used to check mental stability...water running from a faucet onto the floor of a room. Give a person a mop and a bucket to mop up the water. If they don't turn off the faucet before beginning to mop, it only gets wetter.

    DACA is illegal. Trump handed it off to congress to fix. If it goes away it is on congress.

    Re: Immigration

    Again, these are the people we are talking about throwing out:

    Guidelines

    Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday;
    Have continuously resided in the United States since June 15, 2007, up to the present time;
    Were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, and at the time of making your request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;
    Had no lawful status on June 15, 2012;

    The people here illegally and they aren't being "kicked out". Congress has a chance to fix this. Trump has not said he will not sign a bill allowing them to stay. He is doing what several states have asked him to do...follow the law.

    Re: Immigration

    What if...
    This is all designed to get comprehensive immigration reform passed, including funding for border protection. In 6 months congress should be capable of creating a bill with some protections for some illegals AND providing funding for a wall and other security.

    The art of the deal is to go in with extreme demands and then negotiate to where you wanted to be all the time. I don't think Trump wants to deport people to countries where they have never lived, but congress needs to handle this constitutionally. This looks like a brilliant move on his part.

    Democrats govern poorly and republicans seem incapable of governing at all. This should shake that up.
