And while this almost certainly is the result of having an OL that is the equivalent of a wet paper towel, the simple truth is that the QB's job is to hang in the pocket as long as he can... and even take the hit when necessary.
At this point, J'Mar has been hit too many times and now has "happy feet" because (and rightfully so) he has no confidence in his O-line. This is why, other than some errant passes in recent weeks, J'Mar looks fairly solid when throwing the ball within 2-3 seconds. But when his first read is not open and he has to hold onto the ball any longer than 3 seconds, you will notice he starts dancing in the pocket and will start running around like a chicken with its head cut off... like he's trying to get out of a car that's on fire. Bottom line is, the "toughness" needed to stand in the pocket, go through the reads, and deliver an accurate pass when you know you're going to get hit is not "learned." Some guys have it and some guys don't. And for the record, I never did... which is why I know it when I see it.
And while there are things we could do to simplify the passing game and get J'Mar out of the pocket, I don't think we'll ever see them due to the consistent hard-headedness on our sideline.
