Doesn’t that just show how pointless a border wall is?

Would you call laws against murder pointless because some people get murdered?

A great deal. You have to hire police to enforce laws and buy them cars and gas for the cars and buildings to work out of and equipment to use when apprehending bad guys and build jails and hire prosecutors and the staff of prosecutors and build courtrooms and pay judges and give juries a little cash and etc.

If these laws don't stop 100%, why bother...right?

Do we not already have all of that for illegal immigration?

And there are 11 million illegals in the US as we speak, so something more is needed.

Of course, you will argue that the majority have just overstayed their visas, but they are allowed to just disappear into sanctuary cities and receive government benefits. The ones jumping the border have the distinction of never being vetted (none, zero, nada) , yet are still capable of slipping into sanctuary cities/states undetected.

It is now obvious to me that the immigration system here is broken because politicians on both sides of the aisle want it that way. It's all about cheap labor and potential votes. Makes me sick.

What good is a wall that can be scaled in a minute? Other than a symbol to Latin Americans, that is...

Well, looked like young fellas in decent physical condition that did it. I doubt the entire population of illegal border crossers meets that criteria.

Just like there are folks who are able to slip handcuffs because they can bend their hands in inimaginable ways. We don't stop using cuffs just because some people can get them off.

It's just another layer of protection. We need that because there are many here who would harbor them once they arrive.

Perhaps TT is right on the need to make them more...um..uncomfortable to climb.

    minefields and motion-detector machine guns

Oh, to correct more FAKE news out of goosey...that wall was part of the old wall, been there for decades, and is like 15 feet tall. Not the "monster" (to borrow from Fenway Park) Trump will build. Trump's walls are also designed to make them nearly impossible to climb, with slants and such. Have to be a human spider to scale Trump's wall. Can it be done? Yeah. But anyone capable of doing it should be allowed to stay in the US, I think. We can use that kind of skill and determination.

Of course, we could supplement the wall with sniper towers. As one of those illegals is dangling in the open, 30 feet up...well, ya know.

In so Mexico and much of S. America many personal homes, estates and yes government facilities, they have embedded broken glass sticking out on the sides and covering the tops of their walls.

    Re: Immigration

California should vote "no confidence" or impeach their Gov. Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown. Not only is "Moonbeam" breaking the law, he's causing economic chaos by bringing in more unskilled labor, spending Californians tax money to enable these illegals, forcing current workers out of jobs and raising the level of crime. California will eventually, as in now, need the rest of the USA to pay for his touchy feely and wacko ideas just to gain Dem/Lib voters.

California city votes for second time to defy state’s pro-illegal immigrant sanctuary law

Southern California city council voted Monday for the second time to cement its opposition to the state’s sanctuary law following a tense 5-hour debate and clashes between anti-sanctuary measure supporters and protesters.
