Bill Snyder out at K State again, and this time for good. As I recall, and maybe my memory is off on this, K State eventually hired Snyder in about 1988 to fill the vacancy created when the previous coach was fired after blowing a 28-0 lead over a "cupcake" at their homecoming game....that "cupcake" was Tech. The Dawgs rallied for a 31-28 win in Manhattan.

That's how I remember it, anyway.

Has Snyder made his announcement, or is this still the report from early this morning from "sources" that Snyder has indeed decided to retire?

I don't know about any official announcements. This is what my sources say up in Kansas. I just assumed it was a done deal.

Every sports news department is quoting "sources" that Snyder is to retire, but Snyder hasn't announced that yet. Snyder has been thinking about this all week, also according to "sources". When it comes to Snyder I wait to hear him talk.

Not a Ruston native, I don't believe, but a Ruston High alum who led the Bearcats to their last state title (1990) when dad Billy was an assistant at Tech. He's also a former Ruston High head coach.

ECU is hiring the JMU coach. Who got his offer "retracted" from Charlotte b/c he didn't accept it after ECU fired their coach.

For the decade that I lived in Ruston I had always heard that you aren't from Ruston unless you have at least two generations in the ground there...

Laird wasn’t successful at the helm of Ruston High nor was his dad before him. The Laird head coaching bloodline isn’t even worth considering at Tech... in any capacity.
