33-21 good guys
Rice’s first TD somehow just slipped from our player.
And both of those INTs were not very good. Neither JMar or the receivers seemed to have any awareness of the Rice defense on those plays. Their players went right to the ball and ripped it out of the air in front of the intended receivers. They look like they are playing really careless.
I have Rice as one of our 7 wins, so I hope we hold serve. If not, we'll have to beat one of these: USM, UNT, UAB, Marshall, to make up for it. I don't think Rice is gonna finish 0-12, they will win a game or two. So....
Problem is Holtz is so mediocre that he barely hovers above many of the dregs on our schedule. Doesn't take much to create a WTF loss for us. A bad call, a lucky bounce, "just one of those nights."
Specific to this game, and a concern, is Rice is playing good defense. I see this as a low-scoring struggle. We don't have a QB capable of putting the team on his back and winning a game, and our play-calling is so horrendous, and Holtz so predictable, I'll be surprised if we reach 20. The defense will have to score and Hale better not miss anything!
All that said, I'll say: Tech 19 Rice 13
Rice has to be seeing this game as a very winnable game for themselves. We are their weakest opponent so far this season (Army, Wake, Texas, Baylor). Our three wins are against a FCS and two FBS bottom-15 teams. Regardless of the score in those wins, none were really convincing wins if we truly were a very good football team. If we were good then they should have been 60pt blowouts. The likely outcomes seem to be the same type games as the last three or the dreaded WTH choke.
I just hope we get another win and somehow things come together. Then we start to play above and beyond our potential. What’s even crazier is our schedule makes an 11-1 record an almost reasonable possibility. We have had past teams that could have coasted through the last 10 games of this season’s schedule. Would have also given Texas at least a scare.
The big question:
What’s The MOB got on its mind.
The last two games:

They’ve mocked in the past for not using a consistent blue for uniforms, but I can’t find the script.
Here’s last year’s Tech performance.

So you think Tech is as good or better than Army, Baylor and Wake Forest? Rice lost to them by 7, 8 and 20 respectively. Rice lost to Texas by 35, we lost to Texas by 31. Wake Forest is undefeated.
I'm not following your logic. The teams appear to be about even, and it's a home game for Rice. I do see the line has moved in Rice's favor - down to 8.
